DH and I booked a trip for our birthdays this April. Airfare was great Southwest for 2 total $480 round trip. :thumbsup2 I have a SSR studio for March 31st leaving on April 7th. I called general reservations wanting to surprise my DH for his 40th birthday and stay at the Polly. I was told by a CM, general reservations can now see our reservation for SSR and I had to cancel my studio prior to booking at the Polly. We can no longer double book and have a choice to use points or cash at other resorts. :upsidedow

:confused3 I don't see why you can't have more than one reservation. Say you were taking family or friends that you were paying for. I would just tell them that I don't want to cancel my DVC period. As long as you make the deposits and abide by their payment/cancellation policy there shouldn't be an issue, even if they can see the DVC reservation.

I agree with you 100%. I even told the CM that I did not want to cancel my DVC reservation. He said this was a policy not to have 2 reservations in the system?

I would call back and talk with another MS rep. It may be true, but I just had two nights double booked recently, because I wasn't sure if we were driving or flying. I had reservations booked at Pop for our first two nights, and the same two nights booked at AKV. When I booked Pop, all the rep said was, "You do realize you have a room at AKV already booked for the same two nights, correct?" I acknowledged it, and booked the room anyway.

I think there are some changes coming with the new systems, though. I was told by MS today that we would not be able to book dining reservations 180 days out anymore. He said that 90 days out would be the earliest you could book with the new system. :confused3

Technically this is my understanding but there are ways to get it done. Change the DVC reservation to another name then book the cash if that's what you want. OR book one in your name and the other in his.

It makes perfect sense - you can't have 2 reservations in the SAME NAME because you can't be staying in 2 different resort. You can have as many reservations on the same night as you want - but each room has to be in the name of the lead person staying there. So, unless you plan to clone yourself, only 1 room is allowed in your name. :rotfl2:

I don't think that's true. I currently have a ressie in my name for October at both SSR and AKV for the same dates. I booked them both at the same time with the same CM. I told them I wasn't sure which one I wanted, so I wanted to book both and then cancel one later, and I didn't have any trouble doing so. I would just keep calling until you get a CM that lets you do it.

Until a couple of years ago this was not a problem. The current rule seems to be that you are not supposed to have 2 reservations in one name but it's not written anywhere we could see. And Disney is nothing if not inconsistent. Besides, as I hinted above, it's not really an issue if you are simply aware.
