new blog up: walking trails at AK

thanks for posting!

another great Kathy blog full of pictures of AK!!! This time the Maharajah Jungle Trek - one of our favorites trails there - those tigers are stunning...

and by the way, we LOVE Animal Kingdom!!!
which is why i was so annoyed by the recent podcast totally panning that park....

I don't know how people say it's a half day park....it's at the very least a 2 day park for us...

we never manage to do everything in one day....and certainly not at the pace required to really enjoy the beauty of the park - the gorgeous landscaping and detail....

and then there are the wonderful shows....
our favorite being Finding Nemo the Musical, which on its own is worth the price of admission....(and which we saw 4 times during our last trip to WDW on 4 different days)...
and a close second is Festival of the Lion King (which we also saw 4 times our last trip on 4 different days),
and Flights of Wonder - not exactly a show, but always interesting....
and then there's the street entertainment in different spots around the park...

and of course there are the rides - dinosaur, kilimanjaro safaris, kali river rapids, expedition everest - all great rides, with wonderful theming and details (including in the line areas).....

unlike the podcasters, we very much enjoy kilimajaro safaris...
perhaps because we're not interested in taking pictures, just in seeing the animals and the setting (again the wonderful landscaping created by the imagineers)....

and if the lines permit, dinosaur and kali get us for about 3 rides each (unfortunately expedition everest is too intense for me because of the backwards section - though i did manage to ride it once and think it's a great ride)...

and then of course, there are the various short and long walking trails, with and without animals, all beautifully landscaped....

we can't possibly manage all of the above in 1 day, and i haven't mentioned conservation station - which certainly can't fit into the same day as the above - but of course, when we come back for the second day, we want to do everything from the first day all over again and again and again and again...(we usually visit AK at least 4 times each trip)...

bottom line, we LOVE Animal Kingdom......i know there are people who hate it, but there ARE people who love it.....so podcasters, please keep that in mind :goodvibes :goodvibes

We are huge fans of the walking trail and don't miss them on any trip to AK. Can't wait till the girls get old enough to read the details. That makes it even more fun!

Another great blog Kathy. Looking forward to the next one in the series :)

One of DD's favourite things in AK was Rafiki's Planet Watch.

oops - i used the old name for it - conservation station...i meant rafiki's planet watch.. :goodvibes

I love the Safari ride!!

i've noticed we have very similar taste....if memory serves, you also love the TTA in the Magic Kingdom and the Imagination ride in Epcot....me too!!

and i think you also said you like to watch the process of docking the ship at castaway cay and port canaveral....and watching all of the tecnical stuff, with the ropes and what not....i love that....i get up really early in the morning (4 am) so that i can watch it all....i'm a geek!!

Thanks for the new blog Kathy. Val & I love walking both trails (and taking the safari) while in AK. We especially enjoy the aviaries but wish the spotting guides were a bit more up to date since there appear to be many species that aren't depicted.

BTW, there's another nice quiet trail that offers great views if you look for it behind the Tree of Life. You can enter the trail from the ToL exit near the bridge to Asia, or on the other end just before you cross the bridge into Africa. This is usually a quiet spot in the park even during the busy times.

Sssssshhhhhh. Don't tell them about that trail. :) There is another trail not to far from that one also. I don't want everyone enjoying my trails. It is so quiet and peaceful. :)

Thanks Kathy, great job. Dh and I also love AK, the safari ride, the trails, Expedition Everest, and of course, sitting at Dawa Bar - sipping a drink and people watching.

The Wild by Design Tour that Kathy mentions has totally changed our views of AK. It used to be a half day park and our least favorite, but is now right up there with MK and Epcot. I highly suggest it to everyone!

We love the jungle trek and make plans to do it each time we visit the park. The theming on this trek is amazing. You really forget where you are. We particularly love the carved murals showing the animals living in peace, then man coming along causing destruction, nature punishing man, and then man and animals living in peace. We think that is just so cool. Great blog on a great topic!
