new blog: Preparing for Disney Theme Park Refurbishments

I must say, I really liked this blog. It is a different perspective that the vacationer has versus the Florida resident.

We're heading back to the World with my parents in May. Even though we plan to go every year or two, this is a once in a lifetime trip because my parents are going with our family this time. I've been planning this trip for the past year. When I found out that Big Thunder and Test Track were going to be closed while we were there, I'll admit that I was disappointed. But then I realized that it was an opportunity for us to see attractions we normally skip or that we don't do every year. It's all about your attitude. I'm not disappointed anymore...I'm excited to get to do Mission Space for the first time or spend more time in the World Showcase. I'm looking forward to doing Hall of Presidents and Carousel of Progress this trip.

All about attitude and preparation. And preparing your kids that their favorite ride is going to be closed, but you are going to ride some new things...and they might find a new favorite. =)

That's a great take Kristi! Sometimes its not you or your immediate family you have to worry about. Sometimes it can be your extended family who may only see Walt Disney World once in their lifetime or visit very rarely with you. I took my parents before and fortunately for us there were very few attractions down for refurbishment that summer. Thanks for your post.

Nice blog Aaron! I totally agree. We have been to WDW once and are hoping to go back soon. We were considering this summer, but because of Test track, we may reconsider. Being from the Left Coast, we visit WDW very infrequently and Test Track is a family favorite.

On the other hand, we are in DL at least once a year and so when the walls were up all over DCA during our last visit, we barely batted an eyelash. We did discuss, though, that if you were there for your once in a lifetime or even once every 5 years trip, how disappointing it must have been.

I was shocked when they announced Test Track would be down over the busy summer months. Losing a major E-Ticket attraction at EPCOT during the busiest time of the year is going to have an adverse affect on Soarin and other EPCOT attractions. It will certainly make our EPCOT rope drop decision a lot easier. Go get a Fastpass for Soarin and jump in line. There's no need to worry about Test Track. :rolleyes1
