Imagineers and Executives Chat About Buena Vista Street, Annual Passholders and More

Posted on Sunday, 29th July 2012 by Tom Bell
Following the Grand Re-opening of Disney California Adventure, The DIS, along with other members of the online media, was able to sit down with some of the creative teams that made it happen. With several conversations going on in the room at once, the audio is not “podcast worthy”, but I’ve been able to sit down and put together some transcripts to share with you.
First is an interview with Buena Vista Street’s Senior Show Producer Lisa Girolami and Creative Director Ray Spencer who talk about the creation of Buena Vista Street, then Disneyland Park Vice President Jon Storbeck and Walt Disney Imagineering Senior Creative Executive Tom Fitzgerald talk about Buena Vista Street, Annual Passholders and more.

I am SO glad Tom wrote this up! I found myself reading, and nodding, and saying "uh huh, uh huh..." These Imagineers NAILED it when it comes to Buena Vista Street. When my SIX year old son wants to just hang out by the fountain at Carthay Circle, listen to Five & Dime and people watch, you know they've done their job. BVS is such a gem.

When you add Cars Land into the mix, we found it very hard to do DLR in just four days. When we come back, we plan to do a week so that we can absorb all the details and do everything at a leisurely place. I can honestly not say that I have a favorite when it comes to DLR vs WDW. It would be like asking me which of my kids I love the most! You love them equally for different things. DLR is a resort destination in its own right... with BVS and CL making that much more apparent.

Thanks again, Tom!

Great blog! Its nice to hear from the professionals on all the detail that they put into their work.

That's exactly how my APEE Saturday morning felt like! I so enjoyed just hanging out & checking out the shops! Of course this was AFTER my long wait for RSR but neverless
I'm glad I took a little time to just relax & take it in!! I like this much better than Main St!
