new blog: Dumbo and Barnstormer at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World

Great pics from Kathy. I've been seeing tweets about it all day. I can't wait to see this area in Sept.

(But, what is that giant scrim at the end of Main Street? And how long will that be there?)

It is covering up the work near the bakery and ice cream shop. No date has been announced when it is coming down.

I went later on today and it was a MAD house. Another great way of getting around the traffic is the tomorrowland walkway from t-land to fantasyland.

Seeing that Dumbo is flying clockwise this must be the new equipment. What did they do with the area where the "old" Dumbo will be located to? Just construction walls?

Sorry, should have been clearer. I meant next to the new Dumbo. I understand this is going to be a double attraction with two actual ride mechanisms so is there just a construction area next to the one that is now in operation?

And more importantly, did you ride? :dumbo:

No I didn't ride. I felt it was more important to get back and post the pictures. The area was crowded and there are still construction walls up and I am sure that is where the other Dumbo will be.

Is the Tomorrowland walk way still there? I thought it was going away in the expansion?

i can't ride dumbo - makes me dizzy!

so where is this new dumbo? in the area where the wall was up last summer? did they move the wall back....i guess they must have if the barnstormer is open...
it all looks like a big mess...

by the way, regarding the monorail - is there a timeline as to how long the midday closings will continue? will it go through the summer?

I DID! We got there for rope drop and hung out in Fantasyland. As soon as we saw the wall replaced by hedges on a rolling cart by the Tea Cups we knew they were opening. Around 10:30, the CM's came out in their new circus costumes and led us back to the ride area. We were in the second group to ride Dumbo, and you get a great view of the construction area from up there! After we got off Dumbo we went on Barnstormer. After the ride we took one lap around the park on the train so we could see the station coming in. The effort they put into this area really makes me excited about what's coming next!

It was really cool to be back there on the first day, the CM's were just as excited as we were! Managers were taking OUR pictures! It was funny to look around and watch everyone snapping photos and tweeting

We left the park by noon because it was getting crazy crowded.

The new Dumbo is where Barnstormer used to be in Toontown. Still lots of construction walls up.

Dumbo is very cool looking at night. The fountains light up with different colors. It is also a great spot to watch the fireworks from.
