We will be expecting our 3rd in June. We are planning on taking advantage of the Toys R Us trade in event since our strollers and travel systems have seen better days.

We do not want another travel system but a nice stroller that will be good for an infant or 3 months on up. I am really torn between reviews on the Mclaren's and Per Perego's. My husband is also 6'4" and it would help to have handles that accommodate him. Also, I really want a cup holder for baby.

Any suggestions on what works best in parks and outside?

Thanks,

Chrissy

Congratulations!! I like the Maclaren because the weight limits are such that you just need the 1 stroller 'til your child outgrows strollers alltogether and you don't need a stroller anymore. I wish I would have known about them when my kids were babies....I wouldn't have bothered w/a travel system or all the other strollers one goes thru trying to find the "one"! They are also wonderful for taller pushers and fab for WDW...light, fold up compact, push like a dream, even w/a heavy kid, etc.

I am sure there is something clever you could do for a cupholder.

The Macleran XT ( I think that's right) can add a car seat adapter to it so it can carry an infant seat, or what about stroller that doesn't have a seat that just holds an infant carrier then getting a macleran triumph as well. Having the 2 would be cheaper then the macleran that is car seat compatible. Although it does have adjustable handles which would be nice. DH is 6'3" and I have 5'4", so the adjustable handles would definetly be a plus although I'm not sure how tall the standard macleran is. Hope this makes since lol Good luck and best of all CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Maclaren Volo (for older kids), Truimph, and Quest have same handle height, Techno XT and XLT(?) extend higher. I have a Techno XT and I wish I got the Quest, it weighs a little less. The Techno with the car seat adapter weighs even more. I recommend an inexpensive stroller frame (can even get on craigslist) for the infant car seat, then something like a Techno or Quest. I recommend going to Babies R Us or another baby store and take them for a test drive. My friend's DH is very tall and they use a Quest... and they live in NYC so he uses it all the time!

The 2010 Maclaren colors are coming out now, so you can pick up 2009's on clearance. Typically the fame stays the same and they just change the colors.

I HATED our Peg Perego, hard to steer, fold etc. We had the Maclaren Volo which was okay, but our FAVE stroller by far was the Baby Jogger City Classic. Easy to steer, adjustable handles for my 5'1" to my dh 6'2" frame, 1 hand fold etc. It is AMAZING!!!

Albee Baby has their 2008 and 2009 Peg Perego strollers on closeout right now. I just ordered a 2009 Aria OH. It is a great lightweight stroller that can accommodate a travel system if you so desire. It has a baby tray and a single parent cup holder (you can order parent caddys that will velcro to the handle if you still need a parent tray).

These strollers will hold up to 45lbs vs 55lbs for the Maclarens, but IMO the Maclarens are harder to operate/fold. The Aria OH is truly a One Handed operation for folding and it is much lighter than the Maclarens.

Peg Perego P3 hands down! My DD has one that's almost 4 years old now. It's been through the ringer and other then dirt (it's pale yellow) it's in great shape. I did buy DS a new Peg Perego because BRU had the floor model marked down to $150! (And this one looked like it was never even touched).

I love my P3, it's been to disney twice getting ready for trip #3. I had to laugh as a mom w/ a Macarlen hit her DH and pointed to my P3 and said "THAT was the stroller I wanted", LOL!

We're a Maclaren family. We just got a new Maclaren Quest at BRU on clearance, using a 25% off coupon too - plan to use it for new baby arriving in June. DSister and DBIL also love Maclaren's. DBIL is 6' 4", and Maclaren is so much more comfortable for him than some of the others.

We went with the Quest over the Techno. It's rated for starting at 3 months. We have a Twin Triumph as well, which is rated starting at newborn (and DSister has used her's with a newborn, so I know it works OK). We thought about the Techno, but just didn't seem worth the extra money for only a couple of months (and then dealing with the extra weight all the time). We tended not to leave DS as a newborn in his car seat too much, so it want not important to have a stroller than holds a car seat for us.

In terms of cup holders - Maclaren does not come with one. You can buy something that you can hook on to the stroller and then have a cup holder. We just have the organizer hooked onto the back and normally only carry bottled water or soda in there, which is fine for us. I never want a cup holder after my MIL was pushing DS in a stroller with a cup holder - put a cup of hot coffee without a lid in the top, and spilled it on DS as an infant!!

My daughter when she was 8 months pulled a cup of tea down on her. She ended up with 2nd degree burns and fortunately, she was treated and you cannot even tell it happened to her. Amazing how they recover.

I am checking out the Maclarens and Per Perego. I am leaning to Maclaren and then switch back to wanting something with a tray. I love that feature esp with sippy cups and puffs etc... I wish they made an attachment tray for Maclarens.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I am still researching all of them and will let you know what we decide. Amazing the choice they have now.

I bought a 2009 Peg Si and I HATE it. I just wanted to throw it out there, the basket underneath is very small and if you put anything slightly heavy it will drag on the ground. I am embarassed to say this because we bought it new and it was a huge regret. It is my 3rd child and I loved the Inglesina Zippy which lasted for my 1st and 2nd child, it folded up well, was light weight, but it was pricey. I thouht we were done and the Zippy had seen better days so we got rid of it. Then, we decided to go for round 3 and I couldn't justify spending the money on a new Zippy, but I wish I had.

Other complaints now that I am started... the stroller feels "wonky" when I go fast with it. I used to jog short distances like at an amusement park or at the airport with my Zippy and it always had a smooth ride, but this Peg is horrible. It also is supposed to be compatible for the infant carseat but you have to remember to bring the attachment whereas the Zippy it was connected so nothing to forget. Currently I am using a snap and go since I need more basket space and am worried aobut damaging the Si. We are going to Texas for Spring break and will bring the Si with us since I need it to carry the car seat. If I could return it I would, but it was $200ish and I bought it on line.

I have a Maclaren Volo stroller which is not for infants, but I love how it folds. My only complaint is the wheels touch the canopy so it gets dirty. Other than that, it is awesome.

I would go to a store and try them out. Everyone seems to love the Maclarens. I tried a couple of the models and really didn't care for them.

I did check out the Peg Perego P3 and my niece liked it better also. She really loved the large canopy. I liked that it was a little higher seating because she likes to let her legs dangle. It does come with a tray but I took that off as she was 4.5 years when we used it at WDW. I find it easy to open and close and yes it is bigger than the macs but I know my niece was comfortable in it. I bought mine from www.albeebaby.com

If you buy last years model you will save quite a bit of money.

We use SnackTraps, and have a "leash" type thing that goes thru the handle of the snacktrap. Worked well for DS. Same thing for sippys - we used a "leash" on them, and then attached the leash to the stroller. That way, even if it was thrown, it just hung to the side of the stroller.

I'm subscribing to this thread, since I am due in May and I'm trying to make a similar stroller decision. I already bought a Peg Perego GT3 jogging stoller on a closeout sale (which as expected, is huge and heavy). So, I want to get something lightweight as a secondary stroller. Right now my top picks are the Peg Perego Aria, Maclaren Quest, or maybe the Maclaren Techno.

I like that the PP Aria has a tray for the baby, but after reading reviews there seems to be some reliability issues since the stroller is made primarily of plastic. On the other hand, the Maclaren's are made of aluminum, and sound like they're virtually indestructible. Also an issue is the maximum weight of the child for the stroller...55 lbs Maclaren vs. 45 lbs for the PP Aria.

At the moment, my top pick is the Maclaren Quest. It is very similar to the less expensive Triumph, except it has an extending leg rest which is nice for a smaller baby. I think it also has a couple of additional reclining positions. The Techno is tempting too, since it reclines more and can be used with a newborn. I'm not sure that the extra weight and expense are worth that trade-off though.

Regarding the BRU trade in sale...in the research that I've done so far, it seems like BRU's prices are so inflated that the 25% off ends up being a wash if you consider the prices at Albeebaby.com, buying new off eBay, etc. Plus, figure in that you don't have to pay sales tax (or shipping) at many websites. Also, in reading reviews on BRU, it seems like some of their strollers are made especially for the store...and the specs aren't quite the same. For example, BRU sells a Maclaren Quest Sport in the charcoal/forest color for $219.99 (about $25 less expensive than the other Quest's they sell). However, that particular one does not come with a rain cover and has a different type of brake that there are many complaints about.

Good luck making your choice...who knew there were SO many choices out there?!? :confused3

We ended up going to BRU last night. We needed a 5 point Booster and new carseat for the baby. For the present time, I really wanted something I would be able to use for walking/light jogging. I loved the Maclaren Quest though. I am going to take your advice and look at other sites for that. They are really expensive and for the present time, could not justify the cost.

Thanks for the headsup on other sites!

You're welcome. :) Check out eBay...the 2008 and 2009 models of the Quest are going for a big discount. From what I can understand, the only difference is the color of the fabric. The seller "babyproductstore" has been recommended here on the DIS.

There is a baby tray on the Peg Perego and you can buy a parent caddy online for around $10 that velcros around the handle. Honestly - we don't need a parent tray anymore - we end up spilling stuff on DS all the time so it isn't worth it for us.

I wouldn't say the Aria is primarily made of plastic - not sure where you read/heard that? It is lightweight aluminum and the easiest stroller I've ever used - truly one handed folding - the Macs - man those things are complicated to fold; we hated the one we borrowed once.

I read it somewhere on an online review. I wish I could see one "in person"...no one remotely near me sells them though. I'm even having a hard time finding a Maclaren to try out. The nearest place that sells them is almost 50 miles away. Sometimes living in the middle of nowhere is inconvenient! :sad2:

What ever you choose make sure it reclines flat. That is a wonderful feature for diaper changes when there is no where to do one!
