I'll be at Disney for a week in June. We decided that we would skip Universal this time unless the new ride opened. It opens while we are there. I was there when TSL opened but avoided it because I knew I would be back soon enough without the crowds.

Any tips or threads here for how to handle a new attraction opening? I know the crowds will be insane but would an attraction be less intense than an entire land? I need the experts' advice here.

I would get there well before opening to try and ride it before the masses arrive. It will probably still be mobbed.

June 13th is the opening date, which means it could have a soft opening before that. However, if you're only going to do Universal for one day, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it waiting for the ride unless you're a massive fan.

As in order to have a likelihood of riding it, you'll essentially have to utilize your whole day waiting. I do not know how to the soft opening for F&F was, but for Kong, they wouldn't tell you whether for sure it was definitely going to be opened that day and when they eventually said it's possible, they would not tell you when it would open for riding and would just recommend you waiting to see if it was possible. On top of that, then the ride would constantly break down and cause delays in the line, which of course naturally would make the line even more outrageous.

All I can say is expect to wait forever. Also, take a snack and drink as @skylock said.
