New article about FP+ done by msn...

My sides are aching from laughing so hard. Notice how they don't say that lines are shorter. And, Oh Boy! Guests can book one of their top choices. And can they please direct me to the social media that is trending 80 to 2? Must be an internal intranet site. They must not count FB, micechat, Dis or any other site I have seen.

I saw that too and was infuriated. It's just Disney flat out lying.

I understand Disney not wanting to admit what a failure (and yes, it is a failure) FP+ is, but the ways they try and spin it into something better than it was before are just so ludicrous, you'd think somebody in PR would tell them to just remain silent about it.

Who knows.

When the dust settles, the US Beancounters may look back and realize their best marketing program for half of 2014 was Disney's FP+. Hahaha!

I can see the internal powerpoint slide now...

"Disney Innovation - Universal Gain"

Ahh....I had read a thread here awhile back where folks said they were deleting them. I don't check myself. Lesson learned. =)

I just went to their page and opened up the review section. Out of the first ten (all I bothered to read) all but one review has a one or two star rating and most of those are bashing FP+.

80% positive my ***.

There are a few that have 4 or 5 stars, but if you read the comment, they are critical of FP+, too. :confused3

You're not looking at the data like (no pun intended) a PR person! Comment #2 has the words "cake" and "Park" in them. Who doesn't like cake and Parks....?

I concur with, mom!!! :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Good stuff, indeed!

All I could think of when I read this was when I played Roller Coaster Tycoon circa 10 yrs ago. I did the exact same thing and I don't recall it working too well for me. My theme park went up in smokes with many, many angry customers. :p So far, MDE has been mostly an experience in frustration and, "what does it say I have a reservation for this time?" whenever I log in. And I haven't even stepped foot on property yet. Maybe they need to log off of Roller Coaster Tycoon and step foot into their parks, stand in a FP+ kiosk line, then try to get their MBs to work on a ride...or 3. Heck, make a dummy reservation or few and see what happens. See what guests really see instead of just spreadsheets and figures thrown at them. They need to make an episode of Undercover Boss with them at the Parks. :scratchin

YES!!!!! This.

The whole time we were there, I kept thinking "man oh man, the people who designed this system never had to use it themselves." And add a hungry kid in there with them -- see how they make the choice between getting there for fp or eating... because the bus was late and got stuck in traffic.

I think capacity is the number of people that cross the turnstiles each day, regardless of how long they stay or how many are in the park at the same time. Maybe what's increased capacity is more people are entering the park, touring their 3 FP+ attractions and leaving. :confused3

Does something read your band/card when you leave?
I'm curious how they have an accurate head count of people inside the park, if they don't know who's left.

I doubt corporate types spend too much time in the parks, TBH.

That makes sense. Everybody I know loves their magic bands. Personally, i am not going to like them until my discount cards are linked and I don't need to carry around all the extra cards.

Exactly. Right now I still need to carry around my annual pass and DVC card to get those discounts. Takes away any benefit of the magic band.

The tricky thing about the extra 3k per day is that they control the turnstiles. And the number of people who are allowed in each day before they "close" the park. So why not let 3k more in each day over Christmas so that you can talk about it in your earnings report? There really wasn't any elaboration on that, but that's the line he keeps using.

Sounds like I'm missing out. And am shocked. I thought everyone loved FP+ and it was just the super user/abusers that didn't like it.

This is the problem when you manage every aspect from the top down. There are some aspects of any business that must be managed from ground level up. Finger on the pulse.

Oh I have a finger in mind to use!

Oops. This is a PG discussion.

Imagine that Billion invested in a Star Wars section of Disney Hollywood Studios or in a Toy Story Land.

Talk about throwing away a lot of money with almost no gain whatsoever.

Seriously steamed!

The way you said that made me think of Walt Disney.

They certainly have gotten off track since Bob Iger was put in charge of everything. Somewhere there's a pattern to all of these changes, and I think it comes from not really knowing how it feels to be a guest.

True, even if only a third of it had gone to wdw (because I'm assuming that the amount they went over is coming from the budgets of all parks -- as per the article that said they were cutting back at all parks because of it), that third would have bought 3 brand new top level rides. Or maybe 6 re-do's of rides they have in other parks.

Maybe FP+ would have worked really well if all the people waiting in SB lines were distributed among a few more lines.
