New and Summer 2014 travel

Hello all!

I am new to these boards, although I have been a lurker for awhile. I am trying to plan a trip for next summer. It has been 12 years since I've been to WDW. Yikes! I feel like I'm going to confession! lol

Anyway, here are the details and the dilemma. My sister and I want to go on a trip with our daughters, who are both young adults. We both work in education and I'm pursuing my masters, so it has to be in the summer. We can go in June, from mid-June to around June 23rd or we can go after July 23 into mid August. Which is a better time in your opinion? Next, I have stayed at All Star Movies (2000) and Fort Wilderness in a cabin (1997). My sister has stayed at Port Orleans, although I don't know which side. We were considering Pop Century or trying to find a DVC rental possibly at Boardwalk or somewhere else. We want to stay for a week and stay onsite to get immersed in the magic. Also, when do the discounts come out for summer? And, if we book and then there is a discount, can we get it? Ok, I think that is all I have for now. I'm sure I'll be posting more questions as we get into this.

Welcome to the DIS Boards. It sounds like you will have a great trip. I don't have a lot of answers to your questions. I have been to WDW in mid-late June, and had a great time. Either June or July will be hot, but June may not be quite as bad. Just plan to go in the morning, and plan indoor- or water-type things in the afternoon. As for where you stay, reserving through Disney is the most hassle-free. Renting points gives you a great location at a good price, but it involves more risk and trust.

We go EVERY July and love it. It is Hot and Crowded, but when you are a Disney Maniac, you can cope with anything as long as you are at Disney...

The GP Summer discounts are usually out around April.
