New and need help!

Hello! I am new to this whole thing (never been to disney in my life). I just booked my stay for Myslef(24), hubby(24), DD(5) and DS (1) for 6 nights 7 days in the savannah room at AKL from 8-10 til 8-16. We got the meal plan also. I just read about the gardengrocer place. My biggest 2 questions is how far in advance should you put your order in for gardengrocer.com? Is AKL good for kids there age? And what things/places should I make sure I check out and put on my "list" of things to do?

Well, if you haven't already done so, I would pick up a copy of Birnbaum's Unofficial Guide to Disney World. They also have a "with kids" edition. I found this paperback book so useful that everytime I go I get a new updated version just to make sure I don't miss anything. LOL Have you gotten the Disney planning video, that's fun to watch with the kids.

I've found this site to be of particular interest and really love just cruising around the website when I have a free moment.

Have a wonderful time. We leave in April, my husband decided he wanted to celebrate his 60th birthday with the Mouse instead of on a beach in Hawaii. Fine with me, this Irish skin of mine burns quite easily! LOL.

You can order a free planning video (with all of the most sees and how to plan your days) from the WDW website (disneyworld.com). It's free and usually arrives about 10 days after you order. It's great because it shows many rides and attractions to better help you plan!

1) you'll love AKL. DD was thrilled by the animals and the whole theming in the hotel. Make sure to catch the storyteller and the parade afterward. DD loved that

2) if you have the meal plan, you probably don't need gardengrocer. Meal plan is a lot of food. However, I would suggest ordering water to be delivered to the hotel. AKL has a fridge in the room which is fantastic. We order our water from Costco (don't need to be a member and shipping costs are figured into the price). Case of water is about $7 (as opposed to $3/piece in the parks). We ordered it about 4 days before we left and it was waiting when we arrived. We used snack credits to get milk/fruit/juice for DD for breakfast. We also brought cereal/snacks with us from home.

3) If you go onto the Disney website, you can order customized maps of the parks with the attractions highlighted that would interest your family. There are really cute.

i agree with a previous poster, get the unofficial guide to wdw. i practically read the entire thing, and now i know so much more, and i know where to look if i don't. it was especially helpful to me with info for the kids. it has a list of every ride, it's scary-ness potential all that stuff. i think it'll help you so much, since you've never been there before.

forgot to say - i see you're from levittown pa.
i grew up next to levittown, ny - and everyone learned about mr. levitt, and how he built the same towns in pa and ny, and the same basic houses. in fact we (and half of my town) grew up in a levitt house, i guess they split the towns up differently.

so you're the first person i've ever "met" from levittown, pa.

also your kids will be so lucky to stay in AKL.. they'll LOVE it!

And I have to say that I am jealous you are getting to stay at AKL! We have to eat at Boma every trip so we can visit the AKL. Maybe one day I will win the lottery and my DH will let me stay there!

Aw thanks! Trust me, If it wasnt for income tax... I wouldnt be affording this either.
And I never new about the whole levittown Pa and NY thing. Interesting! And thanks everyone for the information! I just picked up the unofficial guide to wdw and it is great! I cant stop reading it...lol
