I mostly post on the VMK section of these boards, but someone posted a link that led me here and I think it would be good for me to stick around. I'm still learning what the entire WISH thing is, but I get the jist.

I'm a staggering 310 pounds. If you think that's hard to read, imagine how hard it was to type it. I've tried to diet and nothing seems to be working.

This New Years, my best friend and I made a resolution to walk an hour every day at least 4-5 days a week and when I'm not doing that, I have my daughter to run around with. My problem is portion control and what to eat. What should I be eating and how much should I be having? What diet is right for me? I'm doing something wrong and I have no idea what. I need to lose weight because I have high blood pressure and you shouldn't have to be medicated for it at the age of 26. I'm too young for this.

I saw this board and this is my cry for help. If you have any thoughts, ideas, etc, please I implore you to post. My WISH for this year is to get down to at least 250. More is better of course but I know miracles don't happen every day LOL.

Welcome to wish
You will get lots of help, advice & encouragment here :)

I'm doing the low carb 2 week induction right now, as i found other 'diets' didnt work for me but this does (have done it before!)
The 1st 2 weeks are the hardest but after then it starts to become a way of life.
Low carb doesnt mean no carbs just having healthy carbs in moderation & cutting out processed rubbish that all diets & healthy living experts agree are bad for us!!! & of course exercise!
If you want any info feel free to pm me or ask on here or my journal.

There are many wish friends here having success on lots of different 'diets' (hate that word!) & healthy living, i'm sure you will find the right way for you.

Your on to a great start with the walking, keep up the good work :)

Hang in there! Miracles DO happen, but we have to help them along. I'm doing Weight Watchers - have for almost 4 years during which I'm on again off again due to life stressors and not following the plan, quitting, etc. This is going to be MY YEAR to succeed and Yours, too!!

Your walking is a GREAT start! Basically, any plan involving a balanced diet and portion control will work. But like all of life, you get out what you put in.

I've tried many other plans, but WW gives me accountability to someone other than myself and is teaching me that I can eat whatever I want in the proper quantities, balance and settings. Stress eating is my major problem.

Keep on moving and you'll soon, with some reading here, pick a program you can LIVE with!!
