Thanks for some reassurance on WOC in January.
From the input here, I know to be sure to try to catch it on Saturday, since I shouldn't assume that a Sunday WOC will be a fait accompli.

Hey Hydroguy, I'm glad I saw this thread. I was considering linking to Lutz's column in the Disneyland Hotel Superthread because folks over there are wondering about hotel construction updates, and his latest column has some interesting tidbits on this.

But I didn't do it because I wasn't sure of the rules on Disboards - is it OK to link directly to other Disney blogs that have updates? You are by far one of the resident experts 'round these parts, so I thought I'd ask.

You can link to anything that is appropiate. If it comes up with ***** in it then it's not allowed on the DIS.

DIS is pretty open-minded on this. What they want to avoid are trolls trying to divert legitimate traffic here to a different site by acting as if they are linking and just trying to help - when they are in fact trying to steal members.

Further, when I link to MiceAge I always state the article is a MiceAge article so readers here know it is a different site and do not mistake the content as DIS content.

I think if you overdo it with links to other sites all the time, someone on DIS might take notice. If you do it on occasion that is more accepted.

That's the same question I have... WOC is on the Disneyland calendar for 1/31 (in fact it was just posted in the last couple of days). Can I plan on that or are they going to pull it?

I wouldn't worry.

Al Lutz posted a rumor about this that turned out to be wrong a couple days later.

WoC isn't going to be dark a couple weeks, only a few midweeks.

Here is a big reason I think he's a poor author.

Even World of Color is slated to receive several weeks of downtime this January to work on mechanical upgrades on the giant fountain platforms.

There are not several weeks in any month of a year. Several means 5-7.


Another tidbit about WoC. Some people have been suggesting for a while that the lagoon may need to be drained to work on it. And this would take a full week. Then Al seemed to confirm it.

According to Disney, it takes almost a full week(6days) just to fill the lagoon. It's quite possible that it would take about the same amount of time to drain it, when you consider that they would be using the same pumps.

WOC is dark midweek for a few days: 1/17-1/19 and 1/23-1/26.

OK, I didn't want to miss that, or F! for that matter. First time back to DL in 19 years. Wanted to see the best of the best while there. Of course I am still kinda' pouty about the Matterhorn refurb. Maybe it'll be done ahead of schedule.
