NEVs at Fort Wilderness

I have seen NEVs driving around the Fort many times, I also know that they are not allowed on the cart paths. However, does anyone know if they are allowed to be parked in the small cart lot across from the horse barn at the settlement? We are thinking of getting one, and would love to bring it with us next month instead of renting a cart. Thanks!

It is small electric car, like a GEM. If you google NEV car or GEM car, you will see. They are slightly larger then a golf cart, but are street legal.

As for the question, you can park them in the small lot, do not see why not, but that is about the only place you can, as you stated, they are to big for the cart paths and not allowed on them.

1) Nope.

Not sure which category the ECVs fall into There were quite a few "street legal" carts in the parking lots at both the Outpost and the marina, license plates/tags displayed. When we were researching carts, and the like, we were told if it had a Florida tag, they needed to be on the street or car lots. We spoke to one owner and he says he just removes the tags when he brings his to the Fort (but it also looks like a golf cart).

I was thinking the lot she is talking about is the small one across the road where cars park getting their groceries. I thought there was even a sign that says cars parking for XX minutes only or something like that.

That is the one I was talking about, right off the road, across the street from the stables. I thought I had seen carts, NEVs, and the occasional car parked there.

I'm still thinking these are two different lots. Across from the Meadow Trading Post, there is a small area with a parking time limit. Full-size cars can park there, golf carts can park in a lot right next to the trading post. Near the stables, there is a cart park right behind the bus shelter, then there are full-size parking lots across that street, cars, motorhomes, trailers, etc.

I know where you are talking about now. It is on the road that goes to WL. I do not think you will be able to park there, but you can check this weekend and let us know. I am sorry, I got the lots backwards, I should have noticed you mentioned the horse stables.

I didn't even know there were stables down that end. I was thinking of the stables near the Outpost. Learn something every day!
