Ok. been to DW a couple of times during YOAMD and not only have I not won, but I have never ever seen a dream cast member. Here is my DH take on it. He says I always look mad! and no one is going to give me a dream looking that way. I say it's just my 40 year old face. Does anyone think that they approach only happy cheering families? Could I be ruining our chances (apparently) looking so glum?:surfweb: He also wants me to talk to everyone I see just in case. gosh, I feel like I am a reporter instead of a vacationer.:rotfl2:

No. The prizes are suppose to be awarded when a computer picks a certain time of day, at a certain place. I've heard the Dream Squad gets their orders, let's say, they have to be at the Pooh Ride at 9:16 a.m. and give a Dream to the person that gets off the Pooh Ride at exactly 9:16 a.m. If they are giving out laynards, they may have 50, so the 50 people that start getting off at 9:16 get the laynards. You are not just randomly going to win a Dream from the Dream Squad when they are walking or running anywhere.
That is how is it suppose to work.

Yet, I've read how CM's have done things that were magical for guests, but I don't think it qualifies as a Dream.

We've been to WDW twice and Disneyland three times since YOMD started and we've never won anything (except for DS doing Jedi Training Academy which I don't exactly consider winning). Last time we went to DL, when we were checking in to the Grand Californian, I swear I really thought we were getting something. We were asked for our name while in line, announced as we were going to a check-in desk, and the people with balloons were waiting...the lady checking us in said hold on please, went to talk hush hush to a manager type for a few minutes, came back and checked us in normally.

They did the same for the couple right behind us -- except this time, when the check-in person came back from talking to a manager type person, the cast member said they were family of the day!!! They got balloons, upgrade, everything. DH was like uh-oh, you won't be upset all day about this will you LOL LOL I was a tad jealous but I was okay, after all I was in DL.

Hmmm...makes me wonder about this whole random thing. Maybe it is random, but you still need to meet certain criteria? We were staying on DVC points...

Just never in the right place at the right time.

I need to see a picture of your face to tell you. ;)

I think a lot of it is random but some can be pre-planned stuff. One of our Dreams was to meet 2 days later for an afternoon of surprises.

:rotfl: I laugh everytime I see the title of this thread!

Might help if we knew what you look like... :lmao:

When our boys are bored in line for an attraction, they start fooling around, which, of course, irritates their older sisters, so the girls start bossing the boys around, and the ones telling them to behave are usually louder than the ones misbehaving. In the middle of all this, stands my easy going, laid back husband who is never bothered by their behavior, so sees no need to correct it. So, now they're all getting on my nerves and I'm sure I don't look too happy, either.

Based on this senario, I know we'll never be chosen as the Dream Family!

Not that I'm complaining...:headache: BUT, we are proud AP for 4 years now, go almost every weekend (no, I'm not lying) and we've only gotten the lanyard, once. I have seen the dream team in action, and we don't tour the parks the same way everytime. Just not in the right place, I guess? But, hey you just have to keep dreaming...:wizard:

The YOAMD promotion includes both Dreams and an unprecedented number of Magical Moments.Magical Moments were taking place before the YOAMD began and are given out at the Cast Member's discretion. The official YOAMD prizes are such things as Dream FASTPASSES,YOAMD pin/lanyard sets,$500.00 shopping sprees,a night in the Cinderella Castle Dream Suite,Honorary Grand Marshall for parades at all of the Disney theme parks worldwide, etc.A complete list of the official YOAMD prizes is available.ALL official YOAMD prizes are given out at a computer program-chosen random location and time.I am not completely sure but, without referencing the official prize list, the Family of the Day "prize" sounds like one of the "unprecendented number of Magical Moments".:)

We spent 24 days/nights in WDW in 2007 & never saw the Dream Team either.

Here's hoping during our next trip!!

Do you mean you never saw the Dream Squad at ALL or just when they were in their "prize-giving" mode? The Dream Squad are the Cast Members wearing blue oxford shirts and khaki pants. When they are giving out prizes they will have on white vests over their shirts. When they are not giving out prizes they "roam" the parks as greeters.I see them in this role ALL of the time.It is fun to talk to them and hear about when and where they have given out prizes. Most of them have given out a big prize such as the Castle Dream Suite and I always ask them to tell me what it was like.It is great fun to hear their stories.:)

Possibly.

I think its just all luck luck luck... we all of our luck is bad... so I am not counting on winning even a free bottle of water while in WDW... lol... and I dont think I look that bad... ha ha ha... my daughter is pretty cute though

We have been there 4 times during year of a million dream have seen folks all around us earn dream ears and lanyards and other special things happen. I have four children adn my husband told me it is becasue we have a family that is to large to winn anything. He also said I would never get a night in the castle because I have all boy's and the ages last few trips where 4, 7, 9, and 11. This august will be our next trip and I am not planning on anything. I have walked past the dream team so many times and have watched many happy faces as they have been awarded prizes. I am honestly just happy to be going on our next trip. It is a tight one and wont last long but kids and parents really want to go back. I am going to try not to watch to see what people get and feel bad that my family isn't what my husband says is the perfect family they are looking for to win. We will be so happy to be there I dobt we will care.:lovestruc I am happy for all those who have won! It was kinda hard for my younger ones to see so many get specail things the last time. But that is normal for a child. I think.and 4 and 7 they didn't understand

Waiting to go back and have a blast!

BTW I was just kidding with that photo!:rotfl:

We won Dream Passes after getting off Goofy's Barnstormer as a party of 12, so I know they will give them out to large groups. I thought one of the kids dropped something and we were in trouble, but when I realized we had won something I was so excited I hugged one of the CM's!

Made for a great day too, more passes than we could use and we felt like Royalty walking around with them around our necks! Guess were pretty easy to please, Maybe thats me in the photo! :confused3 :rotfl: :rotfl2:

:lmao: I know they give them to large groups. :lmao: You just have to at the right place at the right time. We are really saving to be able to go on our next trip (don't want to use credit)and I know we will barely make it but we will still have a great time just knowing we are finally back.
