My husband had a conference at the Hyatt down the street from Disneyland in October. He asked me to go and several times I said I would never like it and it would just be a waste for me.
I have been to WDW 100+ times, we were married there etc. My point being DL just never was something I would consider.
I always heard it's so small, in the middle of a city, etc.

WELL, am I a fan!!!!!!!!
It was small but quaint. I really loved the charm and the history that was all over and explained really well by our hotel concierge.
We were there while decorated for Halloween and it was really great. We loved the Haunted Mansion! What an amazing job changing it into a special treat. The smell of gingerbread in the ballroom scene such a surprise.
Pirates was so cool. The ride was longer, better effects and just great.

We are not CS people but being it was the 1st time traveling with an infant we did stop when easy. All the food was fresh & tasty and so many light choices compared to WDW.
The monorail was odd to us but the shape really great to see.

We are fans of Trader Sam's!!!! What a fun place. Great drinks, service, appetizers and live music.

Thank you Disneyland for a family memory we will never forgetpirate:princess::flower3:

I am glad that you enjoyed your trip, that is wonderful. I am looking forward to visiting again, and for the first time Trader Sams.
I have not been as of yet to WDW, when I do go I know that I will feel lost and probably get lost too. ;) :faint:

~~ I love you Phil and you will forever be with me! Forever my very best and most special friend! I love you to no end. ~~

I'm so glad you enjoyed DL!! It is our family's "special place". :lovestruc I like hearing about other people loving it too.

I am glad you had a great time, too. Our family has been to both. Most recently in June my DD20 and I went to WDW for Star Wars weekend. We had a great time. I especially like Epcot.

My family prefers Disneyland. We like the easy convenience of walking to the park from our hotel and between parks, and we find the best of Disney (ie what we like to do) can be found in Disneyland's 2 parks.

I forgot to mention the cast members. They reminded me of how WDW cast members were many years ago.
I also forgot all the transportation they used to have in WDW. It was so nice to see the horse drawn wagons, fire trucks, etc.
We loved the area behind the animals. The pumpkin carvers were unbelievable.
Hope you don't mind some pics.

We like different aspects of DL/DCA and WDW. I can't imagine saying no to a disney trip. Even if I thought it wouldn't measure up I'd still want to experience it firsthand and see what I liked and didn't.

My sister has a workmate. This lady has a childhood friend (not romantic, trust me) with connections through work and money to travel. He has taken her (and sometimes her husband when he wants to go) to DL more than once and Club 33, DL Paris and has been trying to get her to go to Tokyo Disneyland with him. She has absolutely NO interest in going there. Is it the country/culture? I just don't get it. What an opportunity to pass up! (No, he won't take anyone else, so no volunteering.)

OP: Glad you enjoyed it! (Pirates in DL is my childhood favorite. TOT in WDW ties for first place.)

So glad to hear you had a magical trip! You're absolutely right about DL's charm. It really was/is Walt's park, and its history is so rich. :) Thanks for sharing about your visit.

I'm another who prefers DL just a bit over WDW. You hit on it exactly- it's "charming." Walking between parks and back to the hotel sure beats hour long bus rides.

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip!!

I prefer DL over DW. Disneyworld is hardcore, sooooo spread out, so hard to get places, etc. I love how easy it is to hop to everything at Disneyland. It just seems so much simpler to me. :)

I've been a Disneyland fan since day 1! I have toyed with the idea of a trip to WDW. But I keep sticking with Disneyland. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to book a trip to WDW. It seems so stretched out.....

I'm glad you had such a great time.

I totally agree with you on the monorail. After going to Disneyworld seeing the monorail system at Disneyland just seems odd.

So glad to hear about your wonderful trip!!! We are WDW vets. Our DS is now 12 yrs old & we are planning our first DL trip ever. We are super excited for our trip & it is still 8 months away but we have been trying to visit DL for the past three years.

Having grown up at DL, I couldn't wait until I could go to WDW. My first trip was 20 years ago and my most recent was 2 months ago. While I absolutely love WDW, my heart still resides at Disneyland.

My love for Disney did not extend to DL Paris, unfortunately. I'm glad I went, but have no need to do it again. Give me WDW or DL anytime!!

Glad you fell in love with the original!

I am glad to hear that your trip went really well. We are going to DLR for the first time in June....we too are WDW vets who goes once if not twice a year. However, not going to DLR until now was the other way around for me. I had always wanted to go to DL, ever since I was a kid, because I wanted to see the park that Walt built but my parents would never get on a plane and they didn't want to take a long road trip to the West Coast (we are from Illinois). It wasn't until this past summer when DH and I were talking about our next year's trip and he said he wanted to do something different then WDW but still be Disney themed. So it was between DLR or DCL. Since I have been wanting to do both, either choice was fine with me, so we asked our kids what they wanted to do, and they both screamed out "DLR". Hence we are taking our first trip to the West Coast Parks and are very excited about it :cool1:.
