Never Had Groceries Delivered

The nearest Publix is 8145 Vineland Ave, Orlando 32821. Walmart is 3250 Vineland, Kissimmee 34746. Both about the same distance in different directions. I’ve been to both and prefer Publix…if you’re shopping for a lot of people Walmart will of course be less expensive.

Publix has a lot of “stuff” in addition to groceries, which is one reason I kinda like going myself rather than ordering online—I get to see everything. They have quite a selection of Disney stuff!

At OKW, if you schedule the delivery for a time when you're in the room they can deliver directly to your room. You'll skip the middle man (Bell Services). That said, after many years of using Instacart I have now switched to using Lyft and doing my own shopping. It's no more expensive, in fact maybe cheaper without all the fees and upcharges, I get to see and choose items, and it only takes about an hour door-to-door to Publix.

When we ordered from Instacart a few months ago, I told the shopper our room Number, but they said that they had to deliver to bell services. And our room was right across the street (building 63). It was the first time I'd ordered groceries, and we want to try another service that might be cheaper. Whoever it is, we'll ask again about delivery to our room.

They can be inconsistent, which is part of the reason I no longer use them. Several times they cancelled my order for no reason, with no notice or explanation. I waited for orders that never arrived and I wouldn't have known they were cancelled if I didn't check myself. When it works, it works great but now I eliminate the risk and do it myself. Lyft is fast, Publix is a nice store to shop at, and I save money in the end.

I really prefer going in person as well, I get so frustrated when ordering via instacart, having the person run through so quick that they don't give me a chance to refuse or recommend a substitute, then I'm stuck with something I don't want, or not getting something I really need. That happens frequently where I live. And I even have the notification to sound very loud and distinctly on my phone when the instacart person messages. I'd rather just go and see things in person.

Note - if you want the groceries delivered to Bell Services to hold for you, make sure you let Walmart (or whomever) know you want the refrigerated items separated and marked. Bell Services will store the groceries for you, but can only refrigerated what is marked. We'll often have groceries delivered to our DVC resort, have Bell hold them for us, and then call down and have Bell deliver them to the room for us - they charge a few dollars for the service, but it's well worth the charge and a tip. And especially at OKW, where you might be on the 3rd floor of a building that doesn't have an elevator - it's nice to have someone else bring them up the steps to the door for us!

I was going to literally ask how they handle refrigerated items. Thanks for the tip and insight!
