We are going to OKW this month. Me, DH, DS 11, DD 7, DD5, & MIL. Have 2 studios booked. We have to have a twin air mattress for one kid cause no one will sleep with Grandma (long story I don't blame then & I don't make them cause I'd rather they don't). I understand we won't be walking on them on floor it should be big enough for that?

I read where some units are handicapped baths with no tub is this all 1st floor units or just some? I requested a first floor cause the MIL is 75 & would kill me if she got there & had to walk up 3 flights to her room. We don't have to be adjoined so I could request something different for her than us.

Will the 5 of us be cramped for a week in a studio. We've spend a week in the All Stars but my DD wasn't 3 yet.

Any other requests I should make I don't know about?

Do ground floors also have a balcony you can sit on or just high floors?

I'm so torn & really want to upgrade to a 1BR for the room but just can't afford it. We're spoiled cause we usually stay in a Ft. Wilderness cabin but the MIL too cheap won't pay for one for herself. She cannot room with us it just don't work.

understand - remember that the occupancy for the studio is 4. So I would put one of your children on your mil rooms - so they are all legal and can do the EMH stuff.

I am assuming you are bring your own air mattress - right?

the problem is the seating - there are 2 chairs around the table - there also 2 chairs outside on the balcony - total of 4 chairs not 5.

so someone will have to happy to seat on the beds.

the beds are queens - however - so they should be room.

there are some studios on the ground floor that are non-handicapped ones. I would definitely ask for the non-handicapped.

remember you won't be next to your MIL. you might even be in a separate building (when I travel with relatives I request separate building - gets the front desk upset but they do it)

most of the buildings don't have an elevator - but 62, 63, 64 do.

I would suggest first floor for her - but if your kids can handle the steps 2nd floor for you. the views are just better on the second floor.

There are plenty of non-handicapped accessible units on the first floor. Just be sure you request units in the same building and let them know the request for 1 unit on the first floor is medically necessary. I do not think you would feel too crowded in a studio.

I do not know the cost of 2 BR cash rentals (since we always stay on points), but maybe you could look into 1 two bedroom unit for all of you. There would be WAY more space, your MIL could have the master BR, your family would still have the same room as a studio with 2 queens and then there would be a big LR, kitchen, washer/dryer, etc. If MIL paid whatever she is going to pay for her studio it might put it within your price range...hopefully.

All units have balconies, even first floors...and BTW unlike Spiceycat we prefer the first floor to the higher levels for the view.
