I know this is really pathetic considering I live in Orlando, but I've always stuck to Disney only. My DD is now old enough that I think she will enjoy US/IOA (she's 7 and tall enough for all the rides).

We got a free ticket in the mail the other day, so I'm considering going one day in the next weekend or so.....What stuff do I really need to try and hit. I'm not so sure about the really big coasters (she'll do rock n roller coaster, and space mountain). Should we mainly stick to Universal?

i think she would enjoy both parks, as they both have stuff for kids.

i would say there is more you are looking for at universal, with the exception of maybe the mummy (very fast) and be warned there is a lot of spins on men in black too.

you should hit the shows, shrek in universal, and simbad in islands of adventure. not really sure posidon's fury is a good idea (can get scary)

there is also the new simpsons ride, e.t and jaws, and some water rides at IOA.

enjoy your visit

Thanks for your help.....Any opinions on the meal pass or the express pass? Are these even worth it. Also, any idea what the crowds are like right now? Will they be pretty much like Disney?

as for as crowds go, i never find the universal parks to be as busy (though it's still wise to hit the atractions you want to do early). most atractions you can use passes for, with the exception of taranidon flyers at islands of adventure (a flying dinosaur ride) but to be honest i wouldn't even bother.

as for the meal pass, i guess it depends what you are looking for. citywalk can offer some pretty nice places to eat (avoid the NBA at all costs!), although with that said, the food may not be the best, but it's perfict for basketball fans with live matches, highlights etc.

are you goibng to see the blue man group at all?, also bob marley's

I don't think we're going to hit up the blue man group yet. I still haven't managed to go to cirque either.

Good info on the lines. I think we're going to skip the express pass and the meal thing. I would rather eat at one of the sit down places than a whole bunch of CS. DD will be happy with any place that has pasta with alfredo sauce. How's Bob Marley's? I have eaten at Margaritaville and wasn't too impressed.

oh, it's all caribean food, so if that's your type of thing, then go.

while you are they play music etc.

you're best bet is the rainforest or planet hollywood both in down town disney

Blech! No way! We eat there way too much as it is. I'd like to try something at Universal.

best sitdown in all of USO is Mythos in IOA

It is....and DD always wants to eat at Planet Hollywood, and with the CM discount and preferred seating, it's hard to pass up when I'm there.

I think Mythos might be it...isn't there some pasta place---pastamore or something?

For a more authentic Itailen dish try PBH and the Bice Ristorante!!
Not cheap but very very good...
Going this weekend and I'll post pics!!

there is, but i'll have to research the name and get back to you

Don't feel bad. I have a friend who has never been to the universal parks either, and he also lives in Orlando. And he does enjoy Disney, a whole lot.
