How much are the room at the Disney Hotel closest to property?

You can stay with the Disney club card at the DL hotel for 189-212 a night. By staying at the hotel you are able to get park hopper passes, you can't get those at any other place. This is Junes rates. I will be there at the end of June at The Grand Californian, that rate was 238 with DC card!

There are a lot of hotels that have free city shuttle service to/from Dland and some that are directly across the street from the main gate. We've stayed at Stovall's Best Western (I think there's 2). The shuttle is convenient and runs every 1/2 hours. It's just a clean room, nothing fancy. But you're going to Disneyland. How much time are you going to spend in your room???

Check out the "good neighbor" hotels nearby which are within walking distance of the parks. Granted, you have to walk across a boulevard, but it CAN save you some bucks. Some hotels also include breakfast in the price.

And do some investigating: some packages will include early entry privileges.
