NEVER again in July!!!

I am sorry that you had a bad trip but I believe some of it could have been eliminated. I have been several times in July and have experienced the heat and the crowds but I have been able to do everything that I wanted. It can be tough and tedious but it can be done. My first preference is to get a park hopper pass. That helps a lot.

We have an annual pass. I think the bottom line is I go ALLOT!!! So I am spoiled with going when there are no lines to wait in and not as many people to bump into ;)
Like I said before the trip was fun sitting at SAB and eating!!! Just will never return to the parks in July and really there is no reason for me to. :earsgirl:

Lucky you!!!!!!!!! We go every summer, and agree the heat can be tough to take, however, I would rather be THERE then home doing the daily routines! :flower: Seriously, we go every year and we spend the afternoons at the resort. Trying to see & do it all during the heat of the day is not for us.

I guess to each his own we go either july or august. We know its going to be hot and crowed .We go early and swim in afternoon and back at night. Last year rode 13 rides at mk before noon all the big rides and left. We plan our days to elminate as much waiting as possible and fastpass. :flower:

We had much more fun in July, even with the crowds, heat and humidity, than we did in january.

Like someone said earlier, wearing gloves and jackets really takes puta lot of the magic !

It really is a matter of planning,( ie.crystal palace 810 breakfast on a nonearly entry day, day after MK EMH) fast pass, park hop, afternoon cool down , water and good(not fast) food. The longest wait I had was getting on the bus at the Swan! The kids waited at Blizzard Beach, they didn't get there till 1100.

I'd turn around right now and go tomorrow!

Our first october trip is coming up, I'll be very interested to see how that goes.

We went in July ONCE. Never again, for a variety of reasons. We much prefer spring or fall.

Well, now I'm getting nervous! I leave in 12 days and now I think I may regret my decision to go in July. I went in the middle of August last year and it was hot and crowded, but we mananged. Is July really that bad? And how is it that one person reports they couldn't get on rides and another reports there were no long waits? I'm so confused. :confused3 Was it extra crowded due to the July 4th holiday? Will the end of July be any better? I hope I'm not disappointed. :sad2:

Hey Cinderella:
We are also going down the same time as you. I notice that you are from NY and going to the WL....us too!! Are you driving or flying?

We always go in August...this is our first time in July...I really didnt think there would be much of a difference. Hope not!

10 more days to our trip to WL!!

Hurray for all you brave souls who can stand the heat!!! :sunny: I had our next trip planned for mid-August next year, thinking how bad can it really be??? My DH would simply wither--not to mention be completely miserable and never want to return. So now we'll be going in the beginning of May!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We just got back on Thurs. night, and we didn't think it was bad at all! My DH and I are both teachers, so summer is usually our only opportunity. We live in GA, so we were used to the heat and humidity; the worst part was having to wait in lines with no air flow or breeze. Other than that, we thought the crowds were very manageable. Our two disappointments were the thunderstorms on Monday night, which canceled Fantasmic, and the crowds at Downtown Disney. They were worse than any of the 4 parks. We were always at parks at openings, used fastpasses, and took midday breaks. So it's very possible to manage in July; it's just all about planning and perspective! Plus, it was our DD (1.5) first trip, so nothing could have spoiled it!! :flower:

geez what to look forward too in july/aug with DS starting preschool
this year looks as if this will be the last time we can go "off peak" season
But with the Winters we have in here in New England (some storms 20" of
snow) I Will not mind when it is the middle of January thinking of the
heat and crowds of july/aug.

yes! We came home on the 6th and we've been down during the summer months before. This trip seemed blistering hot and humid! We got to see what we wanted and had fun, but we didn't accomplish half of what we normally do! We took lots of water and shade breaks and didn't even park hop! It's the first time EVER that we didn't hit at least 2 parks in one day!
We told our DD that it's her last trip with us until she's out of college - we're going in the fall/winter from now on! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I used to go in August all the time until I decided to try out November. I've been converted! I always go in the Autumn now. :)

Hi, what a coincidence! We live in Orange County, NY - flying out of JFK. Florida can't be much hotter than it is here right now. We'll have to make best of it. :flower:

I think WDW is just more crowded this year in general. That, along with the typical July heat and crowds can make for some stressful times in the parks. :sunny:

Sorry you had a bad time. It made me kind of bummed though, we're going in a few days. Oh well, we have this mister thing that sprays ice cold water (no it's not a squeeze 'n' breeze). Hopefully that will help.

Sorry to hear you had such a bad time. If you're going next time, you may want to consider subscribing to www.TourGuideMike.com that way you'll never wait more than 10-15 minutes in line for rides, no matter what the season.

I hate the heat too and TGM was a lifesaver. We've gone the last two summers without any problems using his advice, and the parks were very crowded!
I am VERY happy to hear this! We are going Aug 26th and I subscribed to TGM. There is so much information I am slightly overwhlemed, though! LOL
I never go to WDW with a plan, not even what days I go to what aprks..because we've always gone in the sllow seasons.
This time though, I have a plan for each day for the first 5 days, and then I have written down for the last 5 what parks are good and what parks to avoid, so I have some order at least.
I am still feeling overwhlemed though!

These are the type of postings I love to see. We go every summer. Tell everyone how horrible it is. More room for us to enjoy the heat, humidity and the crowds. :rolleyes1

I love going in July/August .... I'm not exactly sure either, but for some odd reason I love to go during this time, that is why I'm leaving in 11 days! :cool1:

We were at the BC from the 7th to the 14th and have definitely decided NEVER to go in July again! We had a fabulous time in the pool, but the heat and humidity were more oppressive than expected. April and February have been divine..so I guess we learned to go then from now on! ;)

ITA, sugermouse!!! We live in Kansas City, and people always say, "HOW can you stand to go to Florida in July/August?" We say well, it's just like here, 100+ degree temperatures, near 100% humidity, but in Florida, there's a beach, and a mouse, and a nice rainshower every afternoon! :Pinkbounc DUH!

We were there 6/6-11 and it wasn't as crowded as I was expecting. At MGM we went for am EMH and we rode everthing that we wanted to, saw B&B twice, and DS's favorite ride saw us at least 4 times. We ended up with 2nd or 3rd row seats at every single show even though we didn't get there early. It was hot but we took our time & drank lots of water. I got comfortable with FP there thanks to the tips on this board. We didn't leave the park until after Fantasmic. Our day in MK was helped a bit with the showers as far as the heat. We went on so many rides! I couldn't believe it. We always had at least one FP, usually two ready to use when the showers hit. We went on Buzz 4 times with FP alone. The only thing we waited for was Dumbo...unavoidable. I also sent DH & DS off with our 4 Buzz FPs & 4 BTMRR FPs while I waited with DD for 50 minutes to see Ariel...only because that is the only place that we can get a picture with her. NEVER again though. LOL! Looking at her face when she complimented her on her use of dinglehopper on her hair. :)
