Hi There, Going to be traveling next week and wondering if i should just use netgrocer.com to order my groceries or just stop at the store... IT seems so much easier to use netgrocer but wondering if they are reputable, what if I am not there for delivery?,what do they do with the cold/frozen stuff? Any insight would be helpful... Also staying at Boardwalk Villas, i know they have a general store but not sure if they sell everything..could someone let me know... thanks...

I haven't purchased anything through NetGrocer yet but plan on doing so for our trip this August. I've done some research and found that the stores at resorts that carry groceries are way over priced. There is a Goodings at WDW but they are also outrageous. I haven't heard anything negative about NetGrocer yet, mostly positive experiences and they charge pretty much what my local grocery store does and they also have sales. As far as cold items, I would go to their website to see if you an find any info or call their customer service number.:D

It's been a while since I've supermarket shopped at Disney @ Goodings or any of the other stores in the area. Goodings was expensive compared to my home supermarket as I remember. I will tell you Netgrocer doesn't have perishables like fresh fruit, most cheeses or lunchen meats. Also they don't have Name Brand soda pop like Coca Cola or Pepsi Cola in diet or normal varieties (at least when I checked a moment ago). Parmalt Milk is available at Netgrocer in quart and mini packs usually. I've bought from them several times usually without a problem. Occasionally after an order was placed they ran out of an item but this was noted on the email confirmation and the credit card properly credited.

When we went several years ago, we took a town car from the airport. We stopped at a Publix store on the way to our hotel. I remember their prices being reasonable. It wasn't as cheap as it is at home, but they were much better than Goodings or the general store. I don't know if Publix would be an option for you because it was a bit out of the way. I don't know if we would have found it without a driver who knew the area. Hope this helps!

I used netgrocer this past August. We stayed at the Polynesian. When we checked in I asked if my box from netgrocer had been delivered yet. They checked out back and found it had been delivered. They brought it to our room about 1/2 hr. after we checked in. I didn't order any perishables though. Only water bottles and juice boxes. I brought a collapsable cooler with a heavy vinyl liner. We filled it with ice from the ice machine every other day. Worked great. I would have no problem using netgrocer again. We were going to stop at the grocery store originally but decided not to take the time.

There are lots of places to shop for groceries in the LBV area.

Winn-Dixie (new), Publix, Goodings, SuperTarget Superwalmart, Sam's. to name a few.

We like the new Winn-Dixie just north of Goodings. Easy in and easy out, prices are better than Goodings and about the same as Publix.
They have Krispy Kremes and you can order their store coupon card online if you want to take advantage of their specials.

IMHO, netgrocer is just one more thing to worry about.

I utilized netgrocer.com last month and this worked out fine. However the YC charged us $20 for handing because my boxes were more than 50 pounds. Which nullified any saving I could have had.

Thirty 16oz bottles of water and various trail mix and snacks all arrived on the day we cheked in.

If you have a car, grocery shopping around Disney is very easy. Hercamore gave a good list of whats around in the area. We usually use the new Winn-Dixie right down the street from the Crossroads Goodings. Good prices and very convenient.

If you want to make a grocery stop on the way to your hotel from the airport, a good thing to know is that the Albertson's supermarket at 12981 S. Orange Blossom Trail (Orange Blossom Trail exit from SR 417) will allow you to fax a list to them at (407) 857-0132. They will have your order packed and ready to pick up! You can call them at (407) 857-5666. Fax your name, phone and arrival time 24-48 hours in advance.

I just found the above info. on mousesavers.com. I called the store to make sure this was correct and they said yes. I can't wait to try it for our trip 12/16-12/24/03. Good luck!

:)

We also had a free grocery stop with our town car service from the airport. We really saved a lot of money by not renting a car. Our stop was at Kash n' Karry, which was a nice store and reasonable prices. I'm not sure what general store you are talking about. We went to the Thimbles n' Threads store on the Boardwalk. It had milk, juice, cold cuts, and a few frozen/microwavable items like burritos. They also had lots of gift store type snacks. Tubbi's in the Dolphin is open 24 hours, and I bought a quart of milk there along with some juice.
