I just checked my account for the first time since the price hike and almost all my streaming movies are gone. Did they lose a lot of content and no longer offer them or are they still saved someplace in cyberspace?
The answer will help me make up my mind whether to keep Netflix or not.

I don't think any of my picks have been removed. Have you checked specific titles to see if they are still available for streaming?

Yes. The deal Netflix had with Starz came to an end and they did not renew.

They did make deals with a couple new providers (I think Dreamworks is one?). So I guess the amount of overall content available is probably about the same, but any Starz-provided titles will no longer be available through streaming.

But that isn't until February, right? I still have Starz Play selections in my Queue.

I read about this somewhere. Something happened to their system in late September/Early October (JMO but I think they started to split it for the new now defunct Quikster website and then stopped) and a bunch of people lost all or part of their queue. According to what I read, it's not recoverable.

But OP - also check to make sure that you didn't accidentally end up with just a DVD only subscription. When I switched to DVD only my streaming queue went away. I was told it would come back if I renewed within so many days but then again, I dropped the streaming before the price change so before the whole deal with people losing their queues.

Ah - whoops. The articles I had read didn't mention a date and made it sound like it had already happened.

Unless I'm mistaken they are also losing the deal with Sony which will eliminate all the Disney TV shows sometime in 2012... Unless they pull a rabbit out of the hat I've got a feeling that Netflix streaming will become Whatflix... I haven't heard of them getting any good deals besides dreamworks and dreamworks doesn't have what I would call a significant size library of content.
