Does anyone have this, and what are your thoughts on it? They are offering a free month trial - I got on the site yesterday and was ordering movies...but they are mostly older movies we have seen. I was under the impression it would be like the newer movies you get on pay per view.

My friend is trying it also, and she told me you only get the newer movies after you start paying for it :confused3.

Just wanted others reviews.

I think she's wrong. You get the same stuff on the trial as you do when you're paying.

I've had it for a couple of years and it's been well worth it with the movies and tv shows you can watch instantly. We more than get our money's worth. Definitely not the newest releases like you get on cable On Demand, but it's a heck of a lot cheaper too. If you have Wii or XBox, you can stream movies through those too.

We love it. Well worth $10/month.

Netflix has two services (both in the price)

You get new DvD's mailed to your house. Depending on your plan you can have one, two or more at once. When finished you return (no fee for shipping) to them, and about a day later you get the next movie.

These are all first run movies and of course a huge library of older stuff.

Also for free you can view movies right away online via your laptop, ipod, wii, xbox, ps3 etc. Those movies tend to be a little older and more limited selection. But growing all the time.

We have the very basic, 1 dvd at time, service and it really is great. Kids get movies back and forth, while wife and I keep up on some TV shows on demand and older movies we never saw.

What is a really neat feature is when watching the insta movies it picks up right where you left off on whatever devices you are using. So if I am watching a movie on my ipod, swap to my laptop it picks right up from where I stopped.

I've been a Netflix member for several years now, at least 6 or 7 I'm sure.

I love the service. I pay $17.99 for 3 movies out at a time. If I watch 3 per week, that's only $1.49 per movie. Some months we watch more than 3 per week, and some months less. But when DirecTV charges $4.99 per movie, I'm more than satisfied for what I pay. And living out in the country Nextflix makes more sense than going to the video store in town.

Very rarely have any problems. A few movies have gone missing as in they didn't receive it after I mailed it back, or I never got it after they said they mailed it. That will happen occasionally, but I've never been penalized for it. And only once did we receive the wrong movie. The envelope had the right title, but a different one was inside. We watched, and enjoyed it, so no big deal and they sent the right one out immediately after I let them know.

Their customer service is excellent and I feel they provide an excellent service at a very, very reasonable rate.

You may experience a delay in getting some movies. Like Redbox, Netflix has the month "waiting period" for Warner Brothers releases.

We love our Netflix. We have the basic one DVD at a time but we also bought the Roku to stream the instant content and that is really worth it for us. Not a day goes by that someone doesn't watch something on the Roku!

Shipping is super fast too. We average two discs a week if we have time to watch them. Give it a try. Good luck.

My only complaint about Netflix is they don't help you figure out what's new and must see as you've noticed. I keep up with the new stuff through Rotten Tomatoes, Counting Down, and Pay Per View instead. If a movie isn't out I simply save it and it will roll into the bottom of my queue when it gets released and every so often I check to see what has rolled onto my list and bump it up to where I want it to be.

Is it cheaper to go with the Roku or just get a Blu Ray player with Netflix enabled on it (on Black Friday)??

And for BR players, can you connect it to a DSL modem with an ethernet cable??

I love Netflix. I do think it is hard to "find" movies but you have to go to "view all" and then look at the "list view". You can sort by movie date there to find newer movies. Everything is grouped by genre vs date. I wish you could search just by date.

I REALLY like the instant streaming option. That is mostly for older movies but it is so easy. We stream through our Wii but you can stream through your computer and hook it up to a tv too.

Netflix can not rent movies that aren't "rentable" yet. So if they aren't made on DVD they can't rent you them.. ie if blockbuster doesn't have it for rent neither will netflix..

LOOOOVEEEEEE the streaming option! SO worth the $9 a month LOOVEEE IT!

OMG, I thought we were going to be in trouble with the streaming option! My family had been watching an enormous amount of shows and movies over the summer and DH wondered if we might be going over our bandwidth limit with Comcast because of it.

So I looked up our usage on Comcast's website and there was no doubt that our usage jumped from nearly nothing to a large figure, but we were still only using half of what we were allowed.

Oh I love it! Worth every penny IMO. Once you get hooked you won't ever go to a blockbuster ever again. I haven't been to one in over a year.

Blockbuster is trying to amp up their online rental program. It's now cheaper than netflix, but really only benefits if there's a store right around the corner. You can exchange at the store or drop it off there and wait for the next one on your list. And you don't pay anything to the store.

Blockbuster is still fighting to get first digs to new releases. I know some companies are making netflix/redbox wait like 30 days before adding it to the line up.

I even got my bro to join just for the streaming option... where was this when I was a kid?

I love the Roku because you can do so much with it from Music to Amazon videos to NASA. It is a tiny little box so you can easily move it from TV to TV. Check out Roku.com for more info if you haven't already.

We rarely use the DVDs by mail but we heavily abuse the Instant Streaming. We have Netflix on our PS3, Wii, iPad, iPhone plus all of our Macs. My DD8 watches all those television shows (Wizards of Waverly Place, Zack & Cody, Drake & Josh) while we are driving places. The other night she and I snuggled on the couch and watched an old favorite of mine, "Labyrinth" with David Bowie.

There are many movies not available by Instant Streaming but others are. I'm not sure how the decision is made to instant or not a movie but I'm pretty sure it isn't age. Cannonball Run is not up for instant but Cannonball II is.

I've had Netflix now for about 2 years. I'm on the 3 month plan at $17.99 monthly. I mail a movie back and my latest choice is in the mail to me by the next day. Lately, I've been using it for TV shows. Right now, I'm watching Glee. I love using Netflix, and by the looks of it, its popular in my area because BlockBusters are all out of business, the only rental stores is a Mom & Pop and RedDoor!

Roku looks a bit easier, but it's nearly the same price as a black friday blu ray player.

The tv is an old tube tv, and I really don't find the picture quality to be great. I used to have a flat tube tv by insignia with an amazing picture and color.
My aunt is also very timid about using netflix and is thinking about getting cable tv. She's tired of fighting with the antenna every time she changes the channel. But she always annoyed with the tv besides her few favorites like DWTS, Castle, and Judge Judy. So she has this massive DVD collection of mostly 5$ dvds. Every store, any day, she will look through the movies for something she doesn't have.

So unless I do everything, set everything up, and show her, she will not put forth any effort into learning something new. I've been enjoying a lot of the same movies she watches, through netflix out in california for a fraction of the cost.
