I know this has been discussed before, but we are thinking of switching to Blockbuster to have the in store exchange option. Sometimes the weekend comes and if you don't plan ahead with Netflix, you don't have a movie you want. What is the shipping time with Blockbuster? We get our movies in 2-3 days with Netflix right now.
Thanks for the advise.

I live in NY and used to use Blockbuster. My movies actually came from the Connecticut area, so you should have a turnover of a day or two. If you exchange in-store, you may even get a movie off your queue the next day.

I initially went with Blockbuster because of the in-store exchanges, but a few months ago they changed their plans and I would only get two rentals a month instead of the unlimited I previously had.

I went to Netflix for a cheaper plan and just use my local Redbox if I have a hankering for a movie.

I maintain my Blockbuster rewards, I get a free old rental a month, and if you rent 5 in a certain period of time, you get one free. If you rent movies on a Monday or Tuesday, you get an old rental free. This works well b/c they still have the 7 day grace period on a 2-day rental.

Hope you figure out what's best for you!

I like Blockbuster Online. You also get 1 free coupon per month. I just returned 3 movies at the store and was able to get three more. The movies will be here by Thursday or Friday at the latest so I will actually have 6 out at a time.

I've had it for about a year and I wouldn't switch over for any reason.

I get my movies in about 2-3 days, can return them to the store and exchange and get new ones!

Also, you get a coupon for another free movie in store. Can't beat it! :thumbsup2

My vote is for Netflix as I feel that they have much better availability. I tried Blockbuster twice now and the titles that I want never seem to be available, even older films. Just my 2 cents.

Blockbuster Online for us.

We get two free coupons per month and unlimited rental exchanges as well. I know we got grandfathered into a great plan, and I wouldn't change it for the world.

The BB store is within walking distance to my house.

I totally agree. We have been doing the Blockbuster online movie rental for about a year and love it. Besides having the coupons and the movie rentals coming in the mail (usually in 1 day), I like the fact that we can take as long as we want. With our busy schedules it's nice to have it as long as we need. Then we can just take the movie into the store and exchange it!

I started with Netflix....hit some financial troubles when I lost my job and had to back off...once i got settled again I went with blockbuster because of instore return...

Blockbuster was SUPER SLOW, twice as long as netflix and they didn't have the same selection. I never got the top 3 on my list, always out of stock...NEVER had that problem at Netflix....then when BB changed their in store policy i left....

If I go back it'll be netflix...just dont have the time now.

Cheers,
Josh

I got Blockbuster online when it first started and then the in store when they started that but I still was penalized with their new 'plans' and wont pay what they want for the unlimited in the store each month so I have 5 in the store now..they also took away my 2 free coupons a month. That still irks me but its still better then Netflix we think

I vote for Netflix...I started with Blockbuster, and I find them really slow...it takes them 2-3 days for my movies to arrive after they received the movies that I returned, and as pp said, their selection just isn't as good. I switched to Netflix a few months ago and have been very happy with them. They are superfast...I get my movies the very next day after they received the movies that I returned. So if I dropped off a movie on Monday, I will receive my next one in the mail on Wednesday! Much better service than BLockbuster, I think!

I returned a movie in store on Sunday. They shipped me a movie off my list today. I will have it tomorrow.

I loooovvvveee the instore exchange with Blockbuster. I'ts like doubling your $$$ value.

I also love the flexibility of changing the mailing address for short term issues. When my Dad was home with cancer (and still cognizant) I changed my address to his home in MD and picked movies I knew they would like. My stepmom said it was wonderful. Movies through the mail!!! And having movies with no return date was great---when my Dad drifted off they would just wait until he awoke again and then start from that point. It could take them several days to get through a movie!

The blockbuster exchange this is interesting. You can no longer get unlimited in store exchanges. Those of us who already had it and make no changes to our accounts can keep it. But if I ever cancel or want to move my plan up or down I will no longer have unlimited. My sis uses netflix as for her it has a greater selection--especially of art films and other unusual items. I love our blockbuster plan, but I do think the web site is difficult to search and not well set up.

Its actually not that way for everyone..I had the unlimited in store and they totally raised the price or told me to downgrade or cancel..no other option at all and they took away the 2 free coupons each month..I dont understand why they treated people all differently

Has anyone taken advantage of the Netflix downloads on the computer? How is the selection? I'm also debating between Blockbuster and Netflix.

I have used both as well and am considering moving back to Netflix but wanted to hear how the downloading was going for people. Blockbuster was great when you could take them back into the store but I also got downgraded to 5 a mo. Turn around has been good on both but Netflix did have better selection.
