I mailed back two dvds on friday, and 1 on saturday. today, netflix received all 3. how is that possible? there isn't mail today, its a federal holiday. I suppose the ones mailed on friday were received on saturday (usually a one day turnaround for me), and since netflix is closed on saturday, is reflected today. but how did they get the movie mailed on saturday?

and my queue says they are shipping my new dvds today...again, how is that possible?

That is weird. I suppose, depending on what time of day you mailed your Saturday return and what time your mail gets picked up, that maybe they received it in the same day. That's the only explanation I can think of. Very, very odd.

I got an email that a DVD was received today. I think I mailed it Friday. I mailed two back yesterday.

I think it's because the mail system doesn't shut down completely. Maybe netflix goes and gets their own mail from the main post office which I doubt is ever closed.

Get used to it! It happens all the time with Netflix. Unless you start ordering all the time, then they slow it up a bit. There's a word for when they slow it down, I forget what it is called.

Throttling.

throttle :car:

But I don't think that's what the OP is asking. They wanted to know how it's possible for them to receive a DVD when the post office is closed.

OT for a sec -

Wait... so you guys are saying if you get movies often from Netflix, that they send them to you slower on purpose? That's not cool.

Yep. They do that. Google "Netflix throttle".

Netflix has never throttled me and I rent over 20 a month. Doesn't happen to everyone.

This has happened to me before (not throttling, getting DVDs so fast)...I swore one time there was a Netflix fairy because it came so fast. I suspect that they have some kind of deal as one poster said and they either have express mail delivery or pickup themselves. Weird though.

I've only been sort of throttled once. we were renting very fast and furious a few months in a row. I still got my discs quickly, but for some reason couldn't get cinderella man. it was really weird, it kept skipping over it. It took me a couple of months, and was a bit frustrating, but not enough to cancel. this was ages ago. we've been renting quickly again, and so far (knock wood) no slow down or anything we can't get, including new releases).

my queue says the 3 dvds are shipping today, will be curious if they come tomorrow. I don't expect them until wedn, due to the mail situation today. but hey, we might luck out!
