Nescafe the only coffee available at DLR?

I am not sure, but Bakersfield Bakery has coffee roaster there and they sell whole beans. I never knew that until we were there last Sun. Although I don't remember seeing what kind of beans they were, they had several different roasts.

The Market House on Main Street has real brewed coffee. Not sure what kind but it's definitely better than Nescafe. Save your receipt and you'll get free refills all day.

I believe the Blue Ribbon Bakery may have real coffee as well. They also do esspresso and lattes here.

That's a handy tip - save the receipt, not the cup. Market House also has a couple of flavored coffees - Hazelnut and Vanilla something or other.

We LOVE the Compass book store coffee! It's right at the DLH end of DD. We stayed at DLH and would get our cappuccinos every AM and sometimes a cold espresso drink in the evening. I forgot the name of the California company whose coffee they use but last year their espresso roast won #1 in the world! It's better than Coffee Bean too. At home I use Lavazza beans from Italy. Only go for Starbuck's when we can't find anything better. We wouldn't get coffee anywhere else at DL Resort except Compass.

I can't remember for exactly sure, but I think blue ribbon was nescafe. I havent tried compass books, or market house, but I may give market house a go this time.

I have read that everything sold within the parks is Nescafe. DLR is obligated to only sell that brand coffee as long as they had a contract with Nestle. However, now that their corporate sponsorship has ended, we'll have to wait and see what kind of coffee they replace the Nescacrap with.

I agree that Compass books sells better coffee. I have read they use Peets, but others have disagreed and said it's a bean from New Orleans. Either way, it's better than what you'll get in the parks currently.

I have had better coffee at Storyteller's and at Ariel's. Not sure exactly what the difference was, but it really didn't taste like Nestcafe.

Just my experience.

La Brea Bakery is also not Nescafe. Their espresso drinks are strong though, not that Starbucks junk, be prepared.

I am in total agreement. I have ONLY ever heard that it's Nescafe.

And while at Compass last September, I asked them if it was Peets and they pretty much laughed at me. Not Peets. Nothing I'd ever heard of, either. And nothing I could have, b/c their espresso machine was broken that day. Oh well.

The coffee at Storyteller's nearly made me cry with joy. I asked the very nice, seemingly honest, server what it was b/c it couldn't possibly be Nescafe, and she smiled sweetly. Said that people always say that, and that it is a special blend, but it IS, very definitely, Nescafe. She could have been lying, though. :)

I think that maybe, along with it being Boy's b'day trip, that I'll make this "the trip of coffee", to see what all I can learn. Sure, I won't sleep for a week when we get back, but hey, we'll be moving right after we return, so I'll just use that time and energy to clean the old place. :goodvibes

And I don't care what the coffee is, but a nice latte and chocolate chip cookie from the bakery on Main Street or the "cart" permanently out to the left of the castle, is just my absolute favorite snack there. Yum.

Jazz Kitchen Express also has Chicory coffee, and Cafe Au Lait (sp?) if you like those.

Ooh! I love the chickory coffee at Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. I think that I know where I will be stopping now.

You can get a decent latte drink in the Hearthstone Lounge in the mornings at the Grand Californian. Not sure if it's Nescafe or not, but in espresso form with milk, tasted all right to me.

It's not quite Cafe du Monde. But is closer than the coffee at DLR is to coffee.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it is, simply because it tastes just like the stuff that I had in my Cafe du Monde canister. Not the freshest because they ship it out preground, but definitely a million times better than Nescrap.

Cafe Du Monde! That's the New Orleans blend I was mentioning earlier in this thread. I have seen it mentioned on other boards that it is served somewhere in DLR -- I thought it was at Compass Books, and probably Jazz Kitchen as well.

Over Nescafe it has to be better even if it isn't freshly ground. I'll take it! :thumbsup2

The coffee at Compass Bookstore is from a roasting company called "Coffee Klatch" out of San Dimas, CA. If you go to their website, the banner at the top of the page flashes with all the awards they have won for their espresso roast. They won again this year. It is exceptional coffee. I love Peet's but this is a step above.
