Well im scared of fast rides, drops, spins etc....

Basically the ride is fairly dark, slow boat ride, with 2 sudden drops. I can just about do the ride. The theme of the ride really is superb and it is well worth being brave. After the second drop has happened you can at least calm yourself for the rest of the ride.

We - me DH, DD(7), DS(3) - went on this with no knowledge of what happened whatsoever and all LOVED it.

It was by far our favourite ride and this comes from a family who can not even stand to go on the teacups!!!! In fact it had a very strange effect on my husband who, after being on this 3 times, decided to give Big Thunder Mountain a go. He is now a convert to all things fast and scarey so be prepared for the effect of POTC!!! pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate:

There's 3 drops in total - 2 of which are fun but nothing to panic about. You'll love it - the themeing is amazing.....

We wants the Red Head!!! :rotfl2:

theres 2 drops, one at the start-ish and one where you get your photo taken.

The 2 log flume type plunges are just right to add excitment but still keep the ride suitable for all. Although the 1st time we rode, we were seated on the front row, and

At the top of the lift hill there is a 'little' drop which for those wanting to know such things, should be aware of. It's tiny but it's there.

it is very much in the style of its a small world, a boat ride where you observe scenes as you go past. the only thrill is that there are 3 small dips, with the second one being the most thrilling - it reminds me of going really high on a swing! its a must do though, don't miss out! yo ho yo ho...

The first time i went on this ride i was terrified, as i hate big rides of any sort so much!...but there really is nothing to it, its a brilliant ride:goodvibes , with a 2 small drops. And if i can do it, anyne can!. I mean my hands were shaking the first time i went on this...thats how much of a scardy cat i am!.lol

But it's fantastic!!:thumbsup2

hrmm, i thought like maleficient man there were 3 drops on this, one at the beginning after you get hoisted to the top (a very small dip) then one after the scene with the dogs and the keys, then one which takes you down to the rock that looks like a skull?

Ive only ever noticed 2, the dlrp boards say 2 and my book about all the versions of the ride only says 2. I'll try and stop now cos i know what im like, hate being wrong!:rolleyes1

Important advice and restrictions

A transfer is required for wheelchair visitors going on board. This attraction includes two sudden, quick descents, and visitors with problems liable to be aggravated (such as spinal problems), pregnant women and those wearing surgical collars are strongly advised not to go on this attraction.
Unsighted visitors must be accompanied. Visitors may be splashed.
You may get wet on this ride!

  :hippie: :hippie:

Unfortunately our youngest DD now 6 does not like this ride as it makes her "tummy feel funny" :confused3 Yet will happily go on Casey Jr which I think has more bumps, but isn't in the dark :)

nothing too this ride just great fun ,I went on when I was pregnant (never relised that they advised you not to) in fact went on quite a lot of things when i was pregnant THIS COULD !!?explain why i have a hyperactive disney mad daughter ,she started out her disney trips young:rotfl:

I won't go on rides that spin, drop or in any way make my 'tummy go funny' but I really wanted to do POTC. The problem was that I read about the 2 sudden drops and thought it would not be for me. My husband pointed out that it does not even have a safety bar (unlike Casey Jr or even Phantom Manor) so I guessed the drops couldn't be too bad. The first of the two (after the jail scene) is the one I am not too keen on, but it is short really and the rest of the ride is so brilliant I can put up with it. During the second drop I am so busy posing for the photo that I forget the drop.:rotfl2:
The rest of the ride is fantastic - full of detail and with perfect theming - definitely my favourite ride.

Well, I know some are afraid of the dark. So, I will say that this ride is fairly dark (it does feature the life of a pirate after all!)

So, you will float by some scenes of buried treasure filled with skeleton bones. There is a scene of a skeleton pirate at the helm of a ship.

Shortly thereafter you witness a scene where two ships are at war. You hear the men fighting back and forth, cannons are booming and it makes "splashes" in the water (no, you will not get wet). You would be amazed at the scale of these ships and it feels authentic, so I suppose it could be "scary" to somone.

then there is a town sequence, where pirates are drinking and being merry. Some of them are entering houses and stealing what is inside while the women of the house chase them with brooms.

There is an auction sequence where women "wenches" are being sold. They are tied up in a line and men pirates are bidding on them. The prettiest of the bunch is in a very flamboyant red dress with bright red hair. So you can hear the men chanting, "We want the red head."

Next there are more sequences of drinking, partying, while one man is passed out in a pig pen with pigs. this usually delights the children. This entire sequence is slow paced with the theme song of Pirates playing in the background.

Another sequence involves a bunch of pirates in a jail cell. The human guard is asleep but the human has a pet dog that holds the keys in his mouth. The prisoners try to use whistling/calling/bones to entice the dog to come to them (and give them the keys).

This entire ride is quite enchanting. Perhaps the reason kids get a "funny feeling in their tummy" is that the drops tend to happen in moments where it is completely dark (so you can't see where you've been or where you're going) but it really just seems to be a way to get you from one scene to another.

The American parks have added in Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) to this ride and that has been an extra amount of fun. However, I don't think that Paris has done this yet?

Yo-Ho a pirates' life for me!

If you look on youtube, they have the whole ride on there, so you'll be able to see the drops.
Unless you don't want to spoil it for when you go.hehe

Hope that helps
