Nervous About Hojos

We are currently traveling to DLR. We've stayed in a couple of nice hotels but a couple of dumps. It's starting to make me nervous about staying at the Howard Johnson. Is it old and run down or has it been updated? The hotels We've stayed in smell old are in need of a major update and the beds have been hard and uncomfortable. I'm contemplating checking into switching to either PPH or DLH. We have a really good rate but is that worth it if I'm miserable for 3 nights?

Should I switch or is the HOJOs really ok?

We have stayed at Hojos probably... 7 or 8 times, and in every building they have. We have always enjoyed it. The staff is great and the beds are comfy. It is definitely more on the hotel side than the resort side, but if you are looking for off-site it's always my go-to choice. We stay there or on-site.

For comparison, we stayed one night at Ramada Maingate before our DLH stay last time and that was definitely more like a hotel than Hojo. It was clean and the staff was nice as well, and I would stay there again if it were a short trip, but it is really hotel.

I think you'll be fine! Hojo is great!

The HoJos in Anaheim is great! I usually stay at Hyatts or Marriotts or Embassy Suites, but considering the distance to the park, the grounds, the water park, and the rooms are nice...it is a bargain. (now I would like to stay at the DLH or GCR, but I would rather have multiple trips to DL instead of spending over double on lodging when we spend most of the time in the park anyway)

ENJOY!!!

Jus reread my message...I was a little confusing...I meant when going other places I stay at Hyatt, etc....but once I tried HoJos at DL...we always return there!!

Yay! Glad to read this thread. We're finishing our 4 day DL trip here (thanksgiving weekend). Glad to hear te ringing endorsements! Thanks!

My next trip is around my 30th night at HoJo Anaheim :) Never a bad experience!! Highly recommend it

You won't be disappointed with Hojo. We're staying at DLH our next trip, because it will only be 1 night and we want the EMH. Otherwise we'd definitely be at Hojo again.

Thanks everyone. I've had a couple of mad motel experiences in the last few days and it's starting to freak me out a bit.

We have always stayed at the Hojo. It is clean and the staff are great :thumbsup2

If you need anything all you need to do is ask and they always do a great job with helping:listen:

The beds are super comfy :cloud9: and we have stayed in 3 of the seperate buildings and we love the building 2 back by the pool facing the pool...at the back of the property which is beautiful walking through the grounds

it is not the Grand- but it is not a dump. Park Vue Inn is more like a dump.... Hojo's will make you feel great! And if the walk gets old- they do have an ART 10 is the route I believe. Have fun- your in good hands!

HOJO is fine. It's not like staying on property by no means but it is fine for a hotel on harbor.

Never had an issues at Hojo's. For a third of the price of staying on property, I'll take it! We only sleep there anyway.

We are headed to HoJo for the third time in November and we LOVE it there! We have always been in Building 1 (Kids Suite) and my parents stay in a Standard Room. Both are well appointed, very clean, comfy, and we love the interior hallways (it feels very safe). We also like that it is next to Mimi's Cafe and a quick walk to DLR. I imagine you won't be disappointed :)

I have never stayed at Hojo's but I have continued to read nothing but great reviews from many people on these boards. Whichever you end up choosing, have a great trip!:thumbsup2

We love HoJo too and will be staying there often during our Year of Disney coming up. You will have a great vacation there! :wizard:

Yes, nothing to be nervous about at Hojo's, it's really great there. We always stay there when we are in Anaheim. Love how clean it is!

It IS older and starting to show it, however they do fantastic upkeep and the staff is really friendly. I'm sure you will enjoy your stay:goodvibes

I wholeheartedly agree with this...bldg 2 is my favorite bldg of all...the only thing I dont really like is bldg 3 and 4...your concerns for old and musty smells and such are kind of what those 2 bldgs remind me of...I never liked them and they havent changed much over the years...definitely ask for bldg 1 or 2!!!

I agree...when you can get the Hojo at a really good rate, then its totally worth staying there...but if you have to pay rack rate or anything over $100 a night then I would consider looking elsewhere because there are hotels along that same walk for the same price or better that are a little closer and not as outdated...however, the staff is awesome and the rooms themselves ie the beds, coffee maker etc...are really nice

We are booked in the premium rooms (I think that's what it's called). We are supposed to be able see the fireworks. Which building is that?
