Nervous about Chef Mickey's

Here's the bottom line for us...it is almost always our very first breakfast during our vacation. To us (Mom, Dad, three kids), very few things say "Disney" better than Chef Mickey's. Now keep in mind, we are referring to breakfast. (Honestly...it's very hard to screw up a breakfast. We have always found the eggs, bacon, pancakes, fruit, cereals, etc...) to be very satisfying. And the atmosphere...yeah, it's a little insane, but fun, Disney insane!
One time we had a reservation for dinner. Our little girl got sick that morning so we cancelled. Since then, I've read some so-so reviews about dinner....and with so many other choices, we just concluded that we would go elsewhere.
Honestly, though, I've never, ever read reviews where people said the dinner was BETTER than the breakfast! Just goes to show you, everyone has a different opinion!
Again...we love it for breakfast....it's never-miss for our family. I strongly suggest you try it....and if it's a so-so experience...well, hey, you learned something for next time! Have fun!!

I would recommend the Garden Grill at Epcot for 2 adults.:D

We love CM! This is our new tradition for our first night at Disney. The food is good character interaction was great! It is noisy but that's what makes it so fun! Check out Minnie and my DS in my siggy that was taken at CM's!

Thanks to everyone who helped me out. I've decided that since we are going to the Chrystal Palace for breakfast, to skip Chef Mickey's. Hubby was only going for me ( what a guy!!).I think instead we'll try The Plaza Restaurant in the MK. That way we can see Spectro and Wishes our first night!!!!:earsgirl: :earsboy:

We made the mistake of going to Chef Mickey's for the first time on a Saturday night to celebrate our twins' 6th birthday. We had a huge wait even though we had PS and the GM would do nothing about it. We almost left but decided to stick it out since we were already there and the kids were getting tired. Extremely crazy in there!! Among other things, CM brought out ONE birthday cupcake and then took off, had to hunt her down to remind her we needed another (while candle burning on the other). Definitely felt rushed and impersonal, unfortunately. Have been to other Character meals that were much more relaxed and fun with better service. If we ever go again it won't be at a peak time, TFS! :hyper2:

We had our best meal ever at the Brown Derby in MGM and some nice character interaction.
You caught my attention. When did Brown Derby have a character meal?

Just thought I'd add a question onto this thread. Is an early breakfast at Chef Mickey's a hectic time to go(early December)? I've never been to WDW so I have no idea but I LOVE character meals at Disneyland. I'm almost 20 and LOVE LOVE the characters but the idea of kids going crazy might give me a bit of a headache. Obviously there will be a lot of kids I know and it's not that I'm expecting it to be quiet of course. But I just don't want to have to deal with an INCREDIBLY hectic and noisy breakfast.

We usually go around 8:00 and its never been too crazy. Weve found its way more relaxing than Donalds Breakfastasaurus.

Personally, I love Chef Mickeys. We have 2 small kids so we dont mind and actually enjoy the loud, festive atmosphere. We had a blast the last time we were there and cant wait to go back in January. We really enjoyed the food. It was more basic than gourmet, but just what I would expect from a buffet. I say if you have kids go for it, if not, it may be best to find a more subdued restaurant.

I think I'm going to try it, can't hurt right? I LOVE Mickey Mouse and I saw Chef Mickey's on the Food Network and it looked like a lot of fun. I can't wait! :D

I've dined there for both breakfast & dinner. Breakfast is very good and we've been pleased.

Tried CM's for dinner on my last trip and it was the absolute WORST meal I've ever had on Disney property. The food was awful and so was the character interaction. Total waste of money.
