I have only ever flown with Airtran, Air Jamaica and Southwest. I am finding slightly better deals for our December trip with other airlines. Are there any to stay away from? Any better or worse than others? TIA

They
DELAY and cancel and change times and cancel and delay and cancel and change times......if you get my drift....
ANY cost savings is NOT worth it to us!! By the way, we're SW fans!!
The two best, IMHO, are Southwest and JetBlue if they fly from your airport. USAirways is getting better after a long period of issues - at my airport, anyway. We'll be using them in August and have used them often in the past. I have no experience with AirTran or Air Jamaica.
Any airline can have its issues. On SW the seats are unassigned; some folks - like my mom! - don't like that. However, SW is not currently charging for luggage while most of the others do. USAirways nickles and dimes you to death with various fees, but in my area has a wide variety of flight times to choose from to Orlando and they offer Resort Airline Check In service (which is a great time-saver!).
Narrow your decision by price and then choose an airline that seems to work with your schedule the best. Along with the fare take into account the other fees - luggage, meals, drinks, etc. None will be perfect in all aspects, but try to meet most of your criteria. Also, check out other airports in your area; they might offer better bargains.
