Nemo vs. Jaws ? ? ?

While watching a documentary about Jaws they were talking about where the 'original' mechanism was located and eeryone was telling stories of the shark.

What was the sharks name on set? BRUCE.

Was Disney paying tribute to a classic movie or was it a coincidence?
