Had the opportunity to ride the new Nemo ride yesterday. Here is a brief review.

The que is situated inside, and it looks like you are under water. It was a very weird feeling being in there, and I don't think I would like to spend more than 10 minutes in that situation. You board moving clam shells (think Bette Midler). The clam shells are a lot like the doom buggies in the HM, but they do not rotate at all, they just face out the entire ride. The ride vehicles go past multiple screens where you see video clips of Nemo and his friends and family. I have not seen the movie (I know, BAD MIKE!) But I know enough about it to get the drift of the storyline of the ride. Nemo is lost and we are following him on his journey. You go through a small scene where there are Jelly Fish floating all over the room, then past even more screens showing even more movies of the cast of Nemo. The last two scenes of the ride are the only part that impressed me. They have taken videos of Nemo and pals, and somehow projected them into the actual Living Seas. It really looks like Nemo and pals are behind the glass! It was an awesome effect, and looks very life like! While this attraction blows the old attraction out of the water :rotfl2: I still don't think I would wait more than 15 minutes for it. If you have kids that are obsessed with the Nemo movie, I'd wait 20 minutes. The entire ride takes about 10 minutes. There are also three autioanimotronic seagulls on the rocks outside of the building that are pretty cute.

Thank you so much for the review.

I'm a little freakish about the underwater feeling - when they're projected onto the living seas type thing at the end, are you surrounded by glass? Is there glass on both sides?

I get panicky in situations like that. Major anxiety attacks. I think it's from a Jaws movie or something? :confused3

But what about the Hydrolators? I remember when you HAD to watch the movie (and it rained and rained and rained) standing up, then into the hyrolators for the trip down down down under the ocean and then onto the ride before being dumped into the viewing area of the aquarium. I really liked the ride, so I am sure that I will like the clam shells.

The old movie and hydrolators are gone. The ride takes up the whole area now, and is actually a pretty long ride compared to the old one. The ending scene is past three windows, all looking into the aquarium, where Nemo and friends are projected. No sense of claustrophobia or under the water in this scene, only in the que line.

Thanks, Mike. I guess I will not miss the movie, but I did like the silly elevators.

HI all,

Just so you knwo if you missed the announcement, it is now called....

The Seas with Nemo and Friends

:wizard: Mike :wizard:

Rode it for the first time on Wednesday -- thought it was very cute!

Best part from my standpoint was that it kinda died -- as track rides are wont to do sometimes -- right when my clam-mobile (gotta love the name! :thumbsup2 ) was in front of the singing school scene. The lil' fishies sang their hearts out over and over again rather repititiously before the ride got goin' again. The next scene is the little starfish kinda belly-aching about things in general and about hearing that song repeating all day non-stop in particular. I kinda got to wondering if her list of gripes was (to some degree at least) programmed to respond to events on the ride. (??!!)

Cannot wait to take my little grandkids on it next summer. :goodvibes

ok so since i posted here no1 else has (scary lol) and i rode the new ride... it was ok. i would just say OK, ok? lol. wasnt anything special. the scenes in the ride were kinda nice and the que line was quite well done, but other than that its not woth a long wait - and i was sooooo excited about seeing it too ... :( lol
:wizard:

I get to go on it today, and I'll be seeing "Finding Nemo: The Musical" at AK. I'll post a report when I get back :thumbsup2

Back, and here's my review!

The Living Seas with Nemo: The ride was good for the kiddies (although the part with the "lantern fish" might be a bit much for the very young. It's over quickly tho). The end part is very cute, with all of the characters from the movie projected into the aquarium. Very cool effect, and they are all singing the finale song from the "Finding Nemo, The Musical." The inside of the living seas has gotten a much-needed paint job and new carpets.

Finding Nemo, The Musical: Great show. If you've seen the way they did The Lion King on Broadway, this show is similar. There are puppets, but the people who are controlling them are in full view and are an extension of the characters themselves. The performers are not only controlling the puppets, but they are also the actual voice performers as well (it's nice to see a show that's not pre-recorded). They also did a great job of condensing the movie into a 30-minute show without cutting any of the actual plot lines. The music is fully origional, and the songs were a lot of fun. The show isnt even officially open or on a set schedule, and the theater was full. From what I saw of the show (and the reactions of the kids in the audience), this is probably going to become one of the (if not THE) top show on Disney property.

ConcKahuna, did the characters look like this?

This is a picture from Nemo on Ice. DH and I were hysterical, because Nemo's eyes look like about a 36C. :rotfl:
Sorry I'm so immature.
I can't wait for the Nemo submarine ride at DL!

Thats hysterical!

No this is not what the costumes look like.

Think more along the lines of Lion King on Broadway.

I think I'm going to have nightmares from those actors in that picture.....

We are looking forward to checking out the Nemo show at AK during our upcoming trip. As for the Nemo ride... it was pretty neat, but I couldn't imagine waiting thru the whole que! We went for the AP/DVC preview so there was no line, BUT the que seemed HUGE. Fortunately though it's a continuously moving ride...

Oh, and I agree with other folks, the display up on the Living Seas Aquarium was the best part. At first I was like.. oh, that's a pretty life-like dolphin... WAIt.... that IS a dolphin!

Ahh....sounds fun. A ride at Epcot that I have NOT rode yet. Almost makes me want to skip the holiday with the family and go to Epcot instead. :rotfl:
