Neighbor problems -- I'm so oblivious...

I'm so oblivious.... For over a year now, I've been having problems with a neighbor -- dog barking at all hours, late night parties, and them operating an autobody repair shop in the garage. I called the police many times about the dog and parties, and the city cited them for operating an illegal autobody shop -- which they continued to operate under cover of darkness.

Today, I just learned that for all this time the neighbors were not paying their mortgage AND were renting part of their house and pocketing the money. The renters are VERY scary looking (I believe they were the ones operating the autobody shop) and I was just informed by the sheriff that they continued to live in the house after the owners moved out when foreclosure proceedings began. The house has now cleared foreclosure and the scary guys refused to move out -- hence the need for the sheriff. Turns out the scary guys have been living in that house as squatters without any electricity or water -- yuck!

How could I not have noticed? I guess I was blinded by all the other stuff going on. Also, I just assumed that something like this wouldn't happen in my nice neighborhood. By the way, even trashed, once they do some minor cleaning the house should still get at least $750,000.00.

That's a little more excitement then anyone needs in theiur neighborhood Beachbunny!!

It sounds like they might have been running a "chop shop" there. . stealing cars and choping them up for the parts. . . did the sheriffs make any arrests???

Sounds like our neighborhood in So. Calif...never knew our neighbors and could have probably lived near Jack the Ripper and not known it!
Aren't you so relieved they are gone!...
Heres hoping you get some great neighbors the next go around!

We recently had the same situation here except our squatters did have running water and electricity, but nobody knows how they had it , the electric company didn't notice and neither did the water company, what does that tell you?? they had 7 dogs and they have done so much damage on that house that it would be better if it burnt down to the ground and build it again.
After they left , it smelled like a HUGE litter box, really sickening!

We had some bad neighbors when we lived in a townhome in the Houston area. They were loud and messy but suddenly one day they were gone. We heard that they hadn't been paying and that the home was real trashed out.

I hope that you get some great neighbors this time.
