DD age 10 and her friend age 9 were riding their bikes around the block friday afternoon after school, they came home scared to death , someone in a green jeep stopped by them and told them to jump in the car and one of the females in the back told them to speed it up , they ran home like you would never know.
Of course we called the police and gave a report, it turns out it's one of our neighbors that I know from work , they knew my DD and they thought she knew them too, so they joked with her and her friend pretending to want to kidnap them.
I don't find it amusing to play that kind of jokes, even if they are children I know, I'm very angry that they did this.
Also yesterday we learned of another attempted abduction in our community, this time it was a female picking up her mail at the mailbox pavillion, she did get back in her car and could get away but in the process there was structural damage, and just two weeks ago a 13 year old was also attacked by a person fitting the same description. Some people should really think before playing sick jokes like this.

You have every right to be angry. In this day and age, people should know better than to kid around with kidnapping. I hope these "friends" are remorseful and think about what they did.

did the police talk to these morons...

Actually they are not my friends, these are people I know from work , but they assumed that because I know them , my DD does too. The police actually asked me if I wanted to file charges, I said no, I think the people learned their lesson, but I am still angry that someone would do something like this.

I've never been a fan of practical jokes, and your experience with your neighbor is the main reason that I feel that way. One lesson that I continually preach to my children in hopes that they will learn is that there is a fine line between a humor and hurtfulness. I wonder how your neighbors would have felt if the tables had been turned and some kids had made up a story about them trying to kidnap them. It's the same "joke", just told from a different perspective.

I'm glad that it wasn't a real kidnapping. But I think your neigbors are jerks. Some things should not be joked about.

what kind of sicko's get thrills out of terrorizing children........

I 'd be livid...I'm very easy going and will tolerate a lot when it is aimed at me..

but don't mess with children..that's when I throw on the suit of armor and prepare for battle...

This was not funny. I would tell these people that you talked to the police before you knew it was them. Also tell them you decided not to press charges but the police were not too thrilled with having to chase down this type of nonsence.

Marcie, actually they know all that now because the police "spotted" the car in the development and questioned them. Of course they came to get the kids to see if that was the car , and that's when I found out who it was. They know I decided not to press charges and as I said I think they learned a lesson. Kids these days do not be to be more scared than they are already , so now my DD is only allowed in our street, no more around the block bike rides.

Not much of a joke ... At least your daughter and her friend had the good sense to run. I'll bet your co-worker is feeling pretty dumb... Have they said anything to you about it? Did they apologize?

That's awful!! I hope they learned a lesson...scaring children in no way is a joke.

Wow! Who would joke about a thing like that?! :(
