Needs information on Animal Lodge

Hi,

Can I ask why a car is not an option? We can usually rent a compact for some short money in January. In my view you only did a car if you want to go from resort to resort but this applies to any resort. The Disney transportation system is great to get from your resort to one of the major parks but to go from resort to resort it is not the most efficient way to move around.

I don't mind explaining at all. I'm twenty, and I'm pretty sure that I can't rent a car. (Although, come to think of it, I haven't done any research-I just accepted what I heard from other people-so I might be missing something.) I live in Alabama, so I could drive down in about a day if I really wanted to, but that would be so stressful that it would take away part of the point of taking a vacation in the first place. Thus, we will have no car.

I'm really glad to hear that Disney has great transportation. It takes one major thing off of my worry list!! (Yes I am guilty of micro-managing!)

Hi,

I believe you can rent a car but there are more fees involved so it might not be a good move financially. I would say go with the AKL the transportation is great from resort to park and if you want to go to another resort just grab a cab from the AKL and off you go.

We stayed at AKL in May, and the bus service was great. You don't have to worry about the bus showing up already almost full from other stops. AKL has one bus stop, you get picked up and taken directly to the parks. When we stayed at ASMovies, that bus made 2 other stops besides ours. I don't think we waited more than 10 minutes for a bus at AKL, and I don't remember having to stand once. We also loved Boma's breakfast buffet. We ate there every morning of our 8-day stay. It beats a food court breakfast any day (a bit more expensive, but we splurged because we were at WDW)!

of the deluxe hotels, the AKL and WL without question, provide the best value for the money..

and yes, disney has excellent transportation....
by the way, even when you do have a car, you should always use disney transportation to get to the magic kingdom as the buses take you right to the entrance, while with a car you have to park at the Transporation and ticket center...a major pain in the derriere.....

we always rent, but use disney transportation to the magic kingdom...

Okay, guys, so am I to understand that you take the bus from Animal Kingdom Lodge to Animal Kingdom? You can't walk?

Correct. The AKL has it own savannas. It is a short bus ride.

I'm so glad to hear good reviews about the bus service at AKL. We always stay at BWI since DH likes the transportation options there, but I convinced him to try AKL concierge for the SUnrise Safari and was worried about how he would feel about the bus service, glad to hear I don't have anything to worry about.
