I've been invited to a Halloween party this month, however the thing is I don't have a costume. I have had no reason to buy one in the past few years. I'm looking at Target, the wal-mart ones are not something I can get into. I'm a size 16/18 in jeans and xl in shirts. So any help or ideas would be appreciated. I'm looking at Target for costumes so please any help.

Do you have a Party City near you? They have quite a large selection to choose from.

No I don't. I'm two hours from Nashville and there's not one there with where I am going this next weekend.

Get an old picture of Barry Manilow's and a shirt that says THAT Mandy.

Not that I know of. There is Halloween Express where I will be visting though. Any other ideas?

My best Halloween costume ever was being a picnic table. I bought a sheet of thick styrofoam/interlocking insulation board at Home Depot. I cut it down so it was wider than my shoulders and cut a whole for my head (knife worked fine).

I then bought a plastic red/white checked table cloth and glued it down (trimmed it so it wasn't too big). Then I stabled a KFC chicken bucket, napkins, paper plates, empty chip bags, etc. on it. I also put some plastic ants on it.

It was very easy to make and didn't take long at all (I am not crafty at all). The only annoying thing was everyone trying to put their drinks on my table!

I just wore my regular clothes under it. It was a big hit!

I should add in it's going to be a bbq and watch movies. It's not a big fancy thing or that, it's just a bunch of college age students basically getting together.

I think any "party" type store will have a better selection than Target. Try Target too, but if you can't find anything you like, try the other place. I know you said you don't have Party City, but to give you an example, they have at least 30 different costumes for ladies. Maybe the other place the other poster indicated will have just that much if not more. Good luck!!

I'll keep them in mind. I'm just trying to watch how much I spend cause I don't know how often I will use it and two I've got tuition due end of December so.

Got these ideas from FamilyFun Magazine

Smartypants:

Tape candy smarties round and round on your pants

Roadtrip:

Grey sweatshirt and sweatpants, paint yellow lines and then glue on matchbox cars

You could make a list of words that would define your ideal costume, like mysterious, or silly, or scary, or movie related, or nerdy, and then go to your local thrift store and pull items that fit that description.
