When I go to reserving fast passes, etc. it suggests calling for groups of 10+ people or for linking two or more reservations. Is this really necessary? Why is this suggested?

I did ADRs for 11 and 13 people with no issues. On the other hand when we were debating where to stay we did call to link our 2 rooms/reservations together for all of us because there was no super easy way to do it online (I was in charge of getting both rooms and I didn't want to make a new account for the person who had the 2nd room).

I called about this, but our accounts were already set up correctly & I didn't need any help!

We had a group of 16 and I was able to make reservations for our entire party online with no problems. There are some places where you can't make reservations for large parties because of the restaurant size such as Beaches and Cream. If you have a list of places you're already hoping for, maybe call dining to see if they accept large party reservations.

You can still make the reservations on your own. I started to get the same messages after I linked a few more mde accounts and starting to schedule a second trip. The phone number looked different almost like they have a dedicated group of CMs that are better trained to help with multistay and large group needs.

I was able to do ADRs online for 15 people at certain restaurants but not others. I think it depends on the seating limitations at the restaurant. However, I'm hoping to be able to do FP+ all online.

IIRC a few months ago Disney came up with a large group number that would be made available to certain guests. Don't ask me what the criteria is, I don't recall seeing that. But they would supposedly help these guests with ADRs and FPs. This was just an extra service and is not necessary for everyone. Anyone with experience can make their own reservations. But I think calling Disney Dining for your ADRs might help simplify things for larger parties.

This is what appears on the website in a couple different places:

Are you making plans for 2 or more reservations—or making plans for a group of 10 or more Guests?
We recommend that you use our complimentary service to set up My Disney Experience if you’re making plans for 2 or more reservations, or if you’re making plans for a group of 10 or more Guests.

In my case, it appeared the second I added an adr for a second trip which has 3 different mde accounts linked together. threw me off at first since some places it comes up as an extra page while your making some of your reservations.
