:( Help please. I need some reassurance. I had never cruised before and after booking the cruise and before finding these wonderful boards I booked our airfare for arriving the morning of the cruise. Now after reading all the horror stories I am all worried!!! We arrive at mco at 11:15 and have towncar service to the port. To change it to the day prior flying in would be an additional $500.00 for change fee and diff of price, would it be worth it?

Hi CinRN! When is your sail date? Did you book your air directly through Disney?

Granted, it's safer to come in the night before, but you have to look at the total picture...

Are you flying on a non-stop from one city? Or are there legs? Who is your airline? If you are non-stop, are you the first flight out that morning or does the plane need to arrive from somewhere else first? What is the season? Will you be flying during snow season from a northern climate?

I believe you can check the on-time overall performance of most flights, just not sure how to do that, perhaps the FAA website. Also, if you want to change your flight, it never hurts to tell the agent why---a lot of times they will waive the change fee. If the agent says no, pass on it, and try a few times more---you might get lucky eventually.

We are flying out of Buffalo on Nov 6th, with a short layover in Cincinatti, OH on North West

CinRn,

Are you on the November 6th Magic? If so come on over to our DISmeets thread, here's the link http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=546879

Did you book your air through DCL? If so they have an obligation to get you to the ship and will even hold it for you if needed. If you booked on your own, then you are "on your own" as far as getting to the port. NWA has a stiff change fee. There is a 99% chance that you will get to the port just fine with no hiccups. But, if there is bad weather on either end it could cause major delays. Try explaining your dilemma to a CSA at NWA and maybe you will get lucky. Let us know how it goes.

Hello we just sailed on 9-12-04 on the wonder and flew from LAX to MCO nonstop. We took the red eye so we arrived at 6:30 am at MCO the day of boarding. It took us maybe 2 hrs total to get the rental car, luggage and drive to the port. Hope this helps.

This is also the kind of thing that trip insurance can cover. But if you didn't book your flights with DCL, your DCL insurance might not cover you. You can buy the insurance directly to cover the flight and cruise expenses.

The ship actually doesn't leave until about 5 pm, so your flight would have to be substantially late for you to miss the ship. $500 is a lot of money for that peace of mind. If it were me, I'd 1) buy trip insurance, and 2) check back periodically to see if you can change the flight without as big a penalty. Hope it works out!

Hi there we are also on Nov. 6th. We are flying out of Boston on Nov. 5th. I think that if you are going to loose sleep over it and worry yourself sick and be stressed out then try and change it to Nov. 5. If you absolutely can't change it then relax and know that what was meant to be will. And of course we all know that Disney Cruise was meant to be for everyone so not to worry. If worse came to worse and you did miss the boat you could hightail it down to KeyWest and meet up with us there. Good Luck.
