My Niece wants a Mr Potato Head for her birthday next weekend. I now have questions about the All-You-Can-Fit-Into-A-Box Mr Potato Head parts at DTD.
When purchasing the Potato accessories at DTD you use a Potato Head box, right? Can you bring your Potato Head box from home or do they provide a box? If you can bring a box from home does it have to still have Mr Potato Head in it, or can you bring an empty box? Are there any other details that would be helpful to know? Thank you in advance for answering my questions. :flower:

Bring your potato from home - if you child wants to play with the new parts while in your room - all disney parts will fit into standard potato - You do NOT need to purchase the body here! You get an empty box and can fill it with whatever parts you want - excluding the potato body means more room for arms and accessories - be sure to get some of the arms as they will hold the disney accessories while the standard arms that come with Mr. Potato do not hold objects. I believe the cost is $18.00 for a box you fill it to top - no over fill/pcs sticking out as box must be able to close!

Thank You for such a speedy reply. I think that I understand now! :cool1:

OMG this is great, I thought to fill the box you HAD to get the body! We have two bodies already but I could not bring myself to pay $18 for the few accessories that I would be able to fit in!! WHoo Hoo going to be getting this on our next visit!

I heard on this board somewhere that you could also do this with My Little Pony, which is DD6 favorite thing, next to Polly Pocket---would be great if you could do this with Polly Pocket--Anyone know if that is an option? ::MinnieMo

Yes to My Little Pony - Polly Pocket never heard of them offering but I'm not sure who makes them as my dd is still to small for them. Check the maker beacuse some of that stuff may be at that "other" park... :rotfl:

Oh, and by the way if you do HAVE to purchase the body here be sure to open it up on its back and fill the inside of the head - this is allowed!!!

I've heard of some people getting their parts home and having them not fit the head they already had right, so if you do have your Potato Head already, you might want to take it along to test that the parts do fit!

There was a pretty long Mr. Potato Head thread a couple months ago. Do a search on potato head and you should see it. There was a nice discussion about how to stuff the box to the maximum. Also some pictures of the parts people have gotten.

We just did Mr Potato Head two weeks ago. I thought I had been able to avoid it for quite awhile, but for some reason dd, almost 12, had to have one this time. We stuffed that body and box to the brim!!! I couldn't actually close the lid...almost but not completely. They had no problem with it. She also got the poncho and the Dumbo that go with Mr Potato Head...very cute. But be careful when choosing your other parts...dd grabbed too many mouths and no nose in her haste!!! But the CM was really good when we went back and explained. We just turned in a mouth and got a nose. I think I'll fill up a new box with other 'stuff' when I go back in Nov...that will be a nice surprise for her!!!

I plan on letting my 2 children doing the Potato when we go in October for both my kids - reminder to self to pick up Mr. Potato head at target :teeth: But depending on how many pcs are available I may have to purchase another box of just parts so that Santa can add it to the pile put away as a nice surprise too! Never to early to shop for Christmas

I have heard you should buy the arms at Disney. Otherwise they won't fit the accessories.

We did this the first year they came out...I bought a potato head there and we opened him up and stuffed him full...put little parts in the bottom of the box and stuffed everything we could around the potato and on top. We got our box to close (barely...lol). It has been my favorite souvenir!!

Of course, when we did this, it was maybe $14 for the box of stuff...the price sure has risen!!

O'kay, I did a search (don't know why I didn't think of that on my own!). I found the informative thread titled; "Mr. Potato Head question" by skiingwife. It answered all of my questions and even listed all of the parts that are sold at Disney. There are a lot of helpful hints from thelionqueen about how to best stuff a PH box. I even found out that various areas in the MK sell specialty sets i.e. POTC pirate costume by the POTC ride and a cowboy costume in Frontierland. Thanks for all of the great info!
