We are going to Orlando at the end of June for my son's AAU baseball tournament. We are trying to decide whether or not we are going to stay on-site & if so, should we do the dining package. We did this for our stay in Nov & loved it, however, if we do the dining package, what is the likleyhood that we are going to be able to walk up to the table service restaraunts & actually get in without a reservation. I would certainly try to do it before the traditional meal times, but not sure if it would be a waste to purchase the dining plan for the end of June & then not be able to get in afterall.

We have no idea what our schedules will be until a couple weeks before the tourny, therefore, making reservations may not be an option for us.

Thanks for your advice!:worship:

This is a tough one. I would try to stay on site if you can so that you can take advantage of EMH's. Without knowing your schedule for the games, I'm not so sure that I would do the dining plan unless you know for sure that the games will be over before dinner so that you could try to plan your ADR's for later.

Have you called to see what ADR's are available?

No, haven't called yet. I was holding off until I can see their schedule. I am one that loves to plan, so it is really hard for me not knowing what is going on. :rotfl:

We're in the same predicament as you. I wanted to make some reservations for Andy (my son) and his girlfriend, but we don't know the baseball schedule either. All I know is that they had to pay off their package at the CBR last Monday or Tuesday. They did not get the dining plan because he figures they will be eating mostly counter service meals with the boys. However, I did make three dining reservations for Andy & Nicole (they have one of the players staying with them, but I talked to the other parents and they'll take him the nights I made the dinner reservations) -- LeCellier, Biergarten and Fulton's. I'll give him a note when they leave and if he wants to cancel he can. But I figured since he's making Nicole go with all these boys, he owed her a couple of nice meals! :rotfl::rotfl2: I love spending his money for him. He did so well spending mine all thouse years! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

They are going to love that! When will they be down there?

I am thinking the dining plan would not be worth it this time. I imagine that we will eat more counter service as well. I am also considering staying off-site this time :scared1: Can't believe I am saying that, but we did a HUGE ($) trip in Nov & I really don't think we will hit many of the parks. Perhaps just 1. Also, many of the players from the teams are staying off-site as well. I know they would love to be able to hang out at the pool on their down time.

Well, I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure that you can find a way to get in a few places, or you could dine off site. My DH had a conference there two years ago and we found out about it sort of last minute so I was unable to plan like I like to, and everything worked out fine. We ate off site most of the time for dinner but we did take the kids to Chef Mickeys one night. Just remember, your lucky to even be going!! :rotfl2: Just being in Orlando is so much fun!!

The chance of being seated without reservations during any busy time in the summer, including the end of June, is probably slim to none. If I were in your shoes I wouldn't even purchase the dining plan until I first made my dining reservations. If you are able to get reservations then add the dining plan.

I'd be inclined to make some educated guesses as to when you'll be dining and make some reservations. At least you'll get an idea of what's available. But, of course, make sure you cancel anything you don't wind up using. June isn't exactly quiet.

They are going July 2 - 9. I figured it was the least I could do since he's not happy about the resort they are staying at -- he let her pick from the three offered. Hopefully, they'll be able to do one or two of the meals. I know they are planning on doing the parks several days...but Andy hasn't been there since his high school graduation...so five years ago!
