I'd really like to have some input for a MK itinerary. I've been going back/forth and I'm really not sure what to do and in what order. :confused3

Here's the scoop:

**We're going on the Sunday before Memorial Day. MK is open until 11p.m. and has magic hours until 2a.m. We plan to leave MK by 10:30p.m.**

1. We're going to AK to watch the 4:30p.m. Lion King show.
2. We plan to be at MK by 6:00p.m. or thereabouts. We have dinning ressies at 6:15p.m., but we could cancel.

3. Must do's: Spectromagic and Wishes!

4. Want to do: Buzz Lightyear and Space Mountain, but will also consider other attractions if it makes more sense to do those instead.

Basically, we'd love to catch the parade, fireworks, and get in an attraction for both age ranges of our kids.

Please provide your input. I'm really at a loss. I know it will be super crowded. Waiting in line longer than 25 minutes, is really not an option. So if that's the case. we will skip the attractions all together. I thought about having hubby run to get FPs while we wait for the parade or wishes though.

Thanks so much. You guys are all so helpful!

:goodvibes

If it were me, I would sleep in late and stay at the park as late as possible. You will get a lot less wait times once the EMH start. We usually do on night of EMH's at MK and get a ton of rides rode. DD usually does fine and we sleep in the next day (or try to).

I think the getting from AK to MK is *possible* by 6 pm... but might be tight too just depending on timing. Double check... I think Space Mountain will be down for refurb by then (I think it goes down in April)

It seems that Space Mountain is closed for rehab from April 19, 2009 through November.

Just wanted to let you know.

Wow. Thanks. I didn't realize Space Mountain was down for refurb.

I'd love to do the Magic Hours, but since they don't even start until 11p.m., it is going to be impossible to do them this time around. The kids won't last that long. We're early risers, so I'm hoping to make the best out of our mornings and FPs.

We don't have ressie's until 6:55p.m., but like I said, we don't have to keep them. In fact, I'm thinking about cancelling them and eating at Pinocchio's or something. That way, we'll have more time to ride something.

Does Buzz ever run out of FPs? We could have hubby grab FPs for Buzz then go to Pirates... or grab FPs for Thunder Mountain and go to Pirates?

I have no idea. My brain is dead. :rotfl: Any suggestions?

I just realized something, y'all are doing the last Lion King show before the park closes with a park closing of 5 that day. So y'all are going to be leaving with the masses. Are y'all driving or using Disney transporation.

Where is your ADR? Is it at 6:15 or 6:55?

I would try to do the earlier Lion King to. I agree, you'll be caught in a mess leaving.

I think AK is open until 7:00p.m. that day. We were planning for the 4:30p.m. Lion King show, then leaving shortly after.

We're using Disney trasnportation.

Our ressies are for 6:55p.m., but I'm really considering cancelling them. I'm not tied to them for any reason at all this day.

Thanks! :goodvibes

oh! I was looking at the following Sunday...duh! Okay, well, with a 7 pm closing I go back to what I originally said, lol.

I think I would be inclined to cancel the ADR as well. I was asking because if it was CP where you don't have to be "waited" on, the a/c and cushioned seats might be a nice respite without taking too terribly long. And it's a nice all you can eat refueling for the "3rd quarter."

I am terribly curious... is this your only MK day?

No. This is actually our 1st day there; however, Spectromagic is only showing on 2 of the 5 days we will be there, so I'd like to get it in. The kids always get so grumpy later in the evening after a day at the park. Even with a break in the middle. :goodvibes So I thought it might be better to get it in the 1st day, especially since we won't be going there on Memorial Day -- our 2nd day (avoiding MK due to expected crowds). We're doing Epcot instead. But the kids will want to at least "see" the castle first. And I thought why not catch Spectromagic and Wishes! that night since there's no wait to see a parade and fireworks. I'm just being greedy by wanting to get in a few attractions as well... LOL :rotfl:

I just never tried to plan a so much the first day (2 parks). We'll arrive to our hotel by 1:00p.m. (3 hours after our flight arrives), if everything goes on time.

I think travel, check-in, 2 parks, a dinner reservation and a late night (especially since you flew in the morning) is way too much for your arrival day.

BTW-- the ressies were for CP at 6:55p.m. Maybe we should keep them? Do you think we'd have time for Pirates, then over to the Plaza to find a good spot for the parade/fireworks?

Maybe hubby could get FPs for Buzz while we wait for the Fireworks to start?

What do you think?

Thanks so much for your help!

Yea... maybe so? But since we're not actually doing anything at AK other than the LK show and the parade I thought it would be okay.... hmmm. rethinking.

Why can't we just stay 2 weeks... than we'd have no trouble getting it all in...haha.

I'd suggest keeping the ADR. If your only "must do" in Buzz, go get a fast pass as soon as you get to the park, then make your way back over to CP and enjoy the dinner.

By the time dinner is over, you should be able to return to Buzz to use the FP an then do Spectromagic and Wishes.

Since it's evening EMH, though, it's likely to be more crowded than usual, and Sunday is already a heavy MK day. The Buzz FP might wind up being later, but you may be able to still fit it in around the shows.

If its possible to stay for the EMH. doit, we did last time we were there. and we rode Buzz like 5 times in a row. it was awsome. and the kids were thrilled!! we just brought our strollers with us and my one son fell asleep in the stroller and my other son actually stayed up until 1am that day and fell asleep on the bus ride home.
