Well, my family just bought a new car. We had planned on doing that the middle of next year, but we had an absolutely great offer that we couldn't pass by.

Some of you know that I've been fretting about airfair, well now my DH is kicking around the possibility of him driving us down. (He was going to stay home with my DFS W/ special needs.

This throws my plans all ascew, as we have reserved the All Star Movies. If he comes, I wouldn't need to add more convention stuff as he wouldn't go to those events, BUT, we will now need accomidations for 5 or 6. (depending on if DFS comes along)

Where would our best place be? Do any of the resorts have room enough for all 5 or 6? Oh my, this will cost so much more. I'll save on airfare, but it will make up for it in passes/food/ and accomidations.

Any advice out here? Now don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled at the possibility of my DH coming with us and all. But living in Oklahoma, it is a two day drive both ways with 2 maybe three kids that have ADHD and NO patience. We'de have to allow even more time for the kids to miss school because of transpotation time.

Brain on overtime and meltdown. Gerri

I know some of the rooms at Dixie Landings (now Riverside??) have a trundle bed and the room sleeps 5.
That wouldn't be too much of a bump from the all stars.

I'd send Linda an e-mail and see what she can do for you. There are also other resorts that do sleep 5..not sure if Riverside is the only moderate with that ability.

And relax...like you said...it's great your DH and DFS
will be able to join you too!! You're going to have a great time! There's lots of folks here who drive down to Disney on a regular basis that can help you out with all kinds of suggestions to help keep your little ones entertained while they are riding in the car!

My parents came from Oklahoma (Wyandotte and Miami)..I have very fond memories of driving to OK every summer to see them..we lived in California, NJ and VT when we made these trips..yes, it was a long drive, but we had a lot of adventures coming and going. One of the things my mom did was to pack breakfast and lunch in a cooler..we always stopped in rest areas so my sister and I could play and not have to sit and wait for a meal..we had had enough sitting by that time! The food always tasted better out doors too..and those of some of the best memories I have about our family vacations!

Have a great time planning your trip!

 Gerri....you are a better person than I.

I am not a patient person when it comes to driving anywhere....let alone a 2 day trip to Florida!!! No way! Not even to Disney! (did I really just say that?????) 2 hours is my max!!! LOL

I know your biggest problem is the hotel situation, and unfortunately I cannot help there....but I am stressing over the drive with ADHD kids.......eeeeeekkkkk!

My DD has ADHD and I have a 3 y/o who has '3 y/o syndrome' (LOL) so I can sorta relate. ;)

Good Luck with your changes and planning. :D :) :D :)

Well, DH started rethinking the trip. We have been known to have some nasty winter weather in Nov. (I've seen more white Thanksgivings than white Christmases) The thought of having to drive that far thru some bad weather has given him a change of mind. Guess he got all caught up in the "new Excursion" fever. LOL. Back to the original plan. I can't say that I'm not feeling a bit easier now.
I had been saving for this trip for nearly two years. I kept changing my mind as to when we would go and so on. I was so indecisive. The the DIS Con came along and made my mind up for me. It was a relief to have the dates all scheduled and all. I didn't have to worry about changing my plans again. So I was feeling a bit outta space there for a while when he made the suggestion to drive. Thanks to those of you who read my post and many thanks to you who replied. And YES, I'm not much of a traveler either. I dread any trip that takes more than two or three hours, and that's with adults. 30 min with my ADHD kids :)
Alls well.

{{{whew!!!}}} ;)

I know how that 'new Excursion' fever strikes fast and hard...we had the 'new Suburban' fever and took a road trip to the Oregon Coast (about 8-10 hours, but we devided into 2 days).....all I can say is 'thank goodness for those little televisions that plug into your lighter!! ;)

Amen to the little TV's. Ours didn't come w/ one and our conversion van had a 10" TV/VCR combo. The kids are hollering about getting one for the Excursion. Especially my son who has now figured out that with the extra power ports, he can play his Playstation in there. :)
I'm sure that's just an argument waiting to happen!!
