I have some transportation questions as I plan my itinerary. If it helps to know: I won't have a car at WDW, I'm staying at GF, and I will be there Dec 19 - 25 (a very busy week). Sorry in advance for the many questions.

  1. How long is monorail trip from GF to MK?
  2. How long is boat trip from GF to MK?
  3. How long is bus ride from GF to AK? Is this the only way there?
  4. How long is monorail trip from GF to Polynesian? To Contemporary?
  5. How long is bus ride from GF to HS? Is this the only way?
  6. GF to Epcot? Two monorail stops? Correct? How long?
  7. How best to get to DTD from HS? Beach Club from HS? Walk? How long?
  8. How would you get from DTD to MK?
  9. How do you get to Magnolia Golf Course when at GF?
  10. How long is the walk from Contemporary to MK?

1. Five minutes
2. About fifteen minutes because it goes to the Polynesian before returning to MK
3. About 20 minutes; the only Disney way, but a cab would take about the same
4. Twenty minutes, ten minutes
5. About 15 minutes, see 3
6. Four stops: MK, Contemporary, TTC, change to Epcot line - about 25 minutes not including transfer time
7. Yes, depends how fast you walk
8. Walk to Contemporary, bus
9. Ask Lobby Concierge, they may arrange transportation for you
10. Eight to 15 minutes

1. 5 minutes or less once you board the monorail. Sometimes you might wait 10-15 minutes for a train at the busier times.
2. The boat is is quicker to GF from MK than the monorail (no stops on the boat versus 3 stops on the monorail). It's not bad to MK, though the monorail is probably slightly faster since MK is the next stop after GF.
3. Bus is the only way to get to AK (besides cab or driving yourself). Once you board the bus it's maybe 15-20 minutes.
4. The monorail trip to Poly from GF could be 20 minutes or more if there are crowds of any size. To CR it might be about half that time. Keep in mind you can walk from GF to Poly in about 5 minutes.
5. Bus is the most direct way to DHS, though not the only way. Probably about a 10-15 minute ride.
6. I don't know if there's a bus from GF to EPCOT. If taking the monorail, get off at TTC and transfer to the EPCOT line. Budget 30-45 minutes of travel time via monorail. About 10-15 if there's a bus.
7. To get to DtD from any park, you must go to a resort first and transfer to a DtD bus or boat. Beach Club is a 20 minute boat ride or a 15 minute walk from DHS.
8. See #7.
9. Cab.
10. About 10 minutes.

[*]How long is monorail trip from GF to MK? Forever, thing is broken constantly Plan on the boat.
[*]How long is boat trip from GF to MK? 10 minutes
[*]How long is bus ride from GF to AK? 20 minutes there, over half an hour back (You stop other places) Is this the only way there? For free... take a taxi.
[*]How long is monorail trip from GF to Polynesian? To Contemporary? See above. If it's working fast, but.... "holding for clearance" or "down" are pretty much a standard way of life.
[*]How long is bus ride from GF to HS? Is this the only way?
[*]GF to Epcot? Two monorail stops? Correct? How long? You have to change monorails, it's not just 2 stops.
[*]How best to get to DTD from HS? Beach Club from HS? This is either a walk or a boat. About 10 minutes on the boat if it's there when you get there. Walk? How long?
[*]How would you get from DTD to MK? Take a bus to Contemporary and walk.
[*]How do you get to Magnolia Golf Course when at GF? They will give you a ride (with much sighing LOL!)
[*]How long is the walk from Contemporary to MK? 10 minutes

Transport from here is pretty sad IMHO

7) Beach Club is actually pretty far from DHS. It's the furthest Epcot resort to walk to. Swan, Dolphin, and Boardwalk would be closer if you're walking. If you take the boat, just get off at the first stop and catch a DTD bus.

On the other hand, you could also take a bus from DHS to Saratoga or any of the other resorts near DTD (Old Key West, POR, POFQ). Then you could boat or bus to DTD from there.

I don't find the walk from DHS to BC to be excessive and I am not a great walker. We do it a lot. It is a pretty walk and I think often faster than waiting for and taking the boat. But it is nice to have the option to do either.

Oh yeah, it's walkable for sure (if mobility isn't an issue). But if getting to DTD is the only goal, there are other transfer-resorts that are closer.

Just wanted to mention that kaytieeldr's answers to the DTD questions talk about walking, but that is apparently a mistake or there were edits in the original question. I'm thinking she read "DTD" as something else since SSR is really the only place you can easily walk to/from DTD.

I think she read it as MK to DTD. Walking to Contemporary then taking a bus makes sense in that context/understanding. DTD to MK, as others wrote, means taking the bus to C then walking.

Nope. I was responding to the "walk from HS to Beach Club" part. I'd gotten tired of scrolling by that point :)

Please allow me to point out that there are multiple ways to answer "how long does it take?" questions.

The first possible answer is to estimate the actual transit time on a bus, monorail, or boat.

The second possible way to answer is with a range that takes into account both the wait time and the transit time. For buses, it's a matter of luck whether you wait zero minutes, 20 minutes, or somewhere in-between. And it's always possible to have an unusually long wait. (Twice I've had to wait an hour for a bus to my destination to show up, although that's very unusual.)

The third possible answer is also to take into account that you have to get to and from the bus stops, boats, and monorail stations on foot. Depending where you are and where you're going, this can add another 10 minutes on each end.

A good rule of thumb is to allow an hour to get from Point A to Point B -- or more if your have to change buses. If you get to your destination substantially sooner because everything went perfectly, enjoy a little extra time there.

I stayed at VGF in May. GF to Epcot took me almost an hour total in the late afternoon. The main holdup was at the TTC, it took awhile for the monorail to come and then we sat there for probably 10 minutes.

GF to MK.....monorail, 6-20 mins. Boat, 15-30 mins. Both depend on wait times.

Bus to AK from GF...20-40 mins....depending on wait times.

Monorail to Polynesian....20-35 mins. To CR....10-25 mins.

GF to DHS....15-45 mins.

GF to Epcot...monorail to TTC, transfer to Epcot line. 15-30 mins ro TTC, 0-15 min wait time, 15 mins to Epcot.

DHS to DTD...walk or boat to Boardwalk (15 min walk) or boat (20 mins plus 0-15 min wait times). Wait for bus...1-20 mins, ride is about 15-20 mins.

DTD to MK....bus to CR, walk to MK. Walk is under 10 mins.

GF to golf course....the GF might put you in a van and drive you, or you could take a cab.

I realize this is all over the place as far as times go, but it's not an exact science. You could walk up just as your bus is pulling in, or you could be walking to the stop and see your bus just leaving! That makes for very different transit times.
