OK, so we haven't told the children that we are going to DLP in the New Year and they will find out on Christmas day :wizard: (wasn't going to tell DH but he saw it on the CC bill :rotfl2: )

So what we plan to do is a little countdown to them getting told as they really will have no idea. There will be 10 sleeps from Christmas Day so we plan to do a bit like the 12 days of Christmas (only for 10, if you know what I mean), and we need to buy 8 lots of really cheap things which can be wrapped up and are DLP related but not obviously.

ie:

10 Chocolate Euros
9 Mini Rolls (Minnie)
8 Star Wars Stickers
etc

When we get to number 2 it is going to be '2 Lucky Children' and the next present they open will be the invites that hubby has mocked up with the dates that we will be there.

So yes, I need ideas, please, clever people! :goodvibes

What a lovely idea :)

How about...
Plastic bath ducks (Donald)
Pumpkins (Cinderella)
Fairy winds/wands (Tinkerbell and co)...i think i have seen packs of mini wands in Asda or Tesco in the party bag section
Mini pots of honey (pooh bear)
Anything spotty (101 dalmations)
Pirate eye patches (POTC)
Toy cars (cars)

Oh you are sooooo good! Thank you - they are fab :yay:

For your final one, you could maybe use the idea we used when we told our kids on Christmas Day :santa: - we bought a mickey mouse christmas helium balloon, with a Mickey Mouse shaped postcard and a bell on the end of a ribbon. We wrapped it in a huge box with a ribbon. When they opened the box, Mickey floated out, and the postcard said "Can you guess where we are going?"

When my daughter was writing about it at school she wrote "I didn't think you could get a holiday in a box".

That is lovely. I could tie the invites to the balloons at the bottom.

Thank you so much for that :goodvibes

What a nice idea - I especially love the balloon idea :)

Maybe you could use little pots of glitter for fairy dust?

Just to let you know I blogged about the Christmas morning we told the kids about Disney using the balloon.

You can read the post here

We are telling them about our DLRP trip in a similar way, the week after Christmas.
