Hi,
My husband and I have begun to start planning our trip to WDW. We have a 3 year old daughter, and I would like to make this a great trip. First, we are trying to decide on when we should go.If possible, we don't want to go when there are oodles of people there, so we can really ride some rides instead of standing in line all day.

Any suggestions? Also I would appreciate any other tips/advice
you may have!

Thanks,
Lisa:Pinkbounc :earsgirl:

September would be a good month go in. Low crowds value season on hotels.

Second week in November , up until the week before Christmas. But avoid Thanksgiving week. September, after labor day,is good but still quite hot . Second week in January through the first wek of February is very quiet. The week after Easter until the second week in May{that's when Florida schools get out} is a slow to moderate time.

First, go to your local book store and buy The Walt Disney Guide by Birnbaum. Read the book and also keep reading this web site.:wave2:

To help prepare our youngest DD for our first visit(she was just over 2 at the time)I bought the Disney sing-a-long videos to get her used to seeing the characters. She watched these and the Disney vacation planning video over and over. By the third day of our trip she was chasing characters with her autograph book and pen!! Definitely buy one or two guide books and use this site--I only wished I had found it before our first trip....

I say look into going in May. Weather is great, and if you can plan on it, go over Mother's Day. Crowds are not out of control, and Epcot does a great flower show. We took our son to WDW for the first time when he was 3. He loved every second of it. He is now 6, has been 4 times, and is begging to go back again.

I second the tip to get your child used to the characters now. We did, and that turned out to be his favorite thing to do. Catch up with the characters.

Make your PS reservations. You can always cancel them if it turns to not be convenient or your child isn't enamored with the characters.

Have fun, and make time to do some hotel stuff. a good way to let their little bodies and minds recharge from all the excitement.

You are in a great situation, not having to worry about the school schedule. Our kids are 7 & 9, so it's getting harder to plan trips. Our 2 favorite times to go are 1st week in December (low crowds, cooler weather and Christmas decorations & festivities) and May (crowds not quite as low, but beautiful weather). It depends how warm you like it. I've heard September can be terribly hot. Check out allearsnet.com to help you decide.::MinnieMo
