I need to make my ADR's & am stuck on a few so was hoping I could get some input! Little background - it'll be myself, my hubby (who isn't picky but a BIG eater) & our son who will be 9 on the trip but closer to 10 & not picky. We are doing the Free dining & have 7 nights. I'm trying to pick, for the most part, places we didn't go to last time. (Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace, Coral Reef, Cape May, Whispering Canyon & LeCellier) So if you could give me your thoughts or experiences or something to help me make my decision......

The 4 I know we are doing for sure -
Whispering Canyon (went there before & we really enjoyed it - hubby still talks about the brisket!)
O'hana - haven't been there & am really excited for this one!
Garden Grill - like to have a character meal on our first day.
Chef Mickeys or Crystal Palace - loved them both but I think eating with Mickey will win that one!

Now here are the ones I'm debating ......

Shutters? I don't hear much about it - any one have any thoughts?
Teppan Edo - wanted to do this one last time, but keep hearing that you really don't get that much food & am worried about hubby being hungry! Or maybe instead the Mexican place (can't think of the name!?!)
Tusker House - I want to do one at AK or one of the resorts there.
Captain Jacks - seafood!
Any other places I should really consider? Only 1 TS credit please .....
Also I don't know which one to do on our HS day - would like to stay in the park but none of them excite me too much. ACK! I know we'll like any where we go but I need to bounce things around & my hubby's no help! Any ideas would be appreciated!!! :)

Thank you!!!

Tusker House gets my vote! My kids LOVED the breakfast there.

The others I have not tried, so I can't help you there.

We did not like Tusker House DINNER. haven't been to breakfast. If you're a bold eater, then it might be a good choice. Very different flavors at the place. it's all good, don't get me wrong, just not our favorite place and will not go back for dinner...

We haven't ate at any other on your list...

When we are at HS, we eat somewhere else. Hollywood and Vine is not so great, IMO. We do alot of resort eating, actually. But haven't been to Shutters.

Maybe you should hop on the boat to Boardwalk, Yacht Club, Beach Club and try Captain's grille at the yacht club. We are trying that for the 1st time in Feb. We've heard good things about that place too.

We are trying Turf Club @ SSR because we've read good things about it as well.
Maya Grill was good, Coronado Springs.
Of course O'Hana

If you're looking for a QS meal...nothing can beat Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD. Awesome....the husband dragged me there everyday for lunch last feb. Well...he didn't have to drag me too hard.

2 restaurants that come to mind while explaining things are Biergarten at EPCOT (Germany) and Boma at the AKL. Both are buffets that offer things for the picky and adventurous alike and no one will leave hungry, I can promise you that.

Biergarten has some great live music and is a lot of fun. However, if your family is put off by sitting with strangers and sitting with others might ruin your experience, skip it. But if your family wouldn't be bothered by sitting with other people, its a great choice.

The food at Boma is good. While your at the AKL take some time to explore the resort.

If you are breakfast people, Donald's Breakfast Safari at TH in the AK is a great character meal.

I would skip TE. If DH is a big eater, odds are he will leave hungry. Also, if you have a hibachi restaurant in your area, I would be willing to bet that the food and show are better there then at TE.

I will add another vote for Tusker House breakfast. It's the best breakfast buffet I've been to in WDW and the interaction with the characters was great.

I would agree about not eating in DHS. If you're looking for dinner options, I would recommend Kouzzina on the Boardwalk. They're not open for lunch though.

Have you thought about the Kona Cafe at the Poly, I have been for Dinner and found it to be a very good experience... The Wave I also found to be good as well as Olivia's Cafe.

If you want a lot of food, try the Biergarten. We ate there last year and it's a buffett and it's very good.

We ate at Teppan Edo last week and loved it. We didn't leave hungry. We thought there was plenty of food. The only issue we had with Teppan Edo was the family we sat with. A Larry the Cable Guy look-a-like kept his Nascar hat on the entire time. So did junior. Gross! People need to have some manners!

Cheers!

Ok - I think I'm going to take off Tusker House & put in Boma (unless we decide on a breakfast but........not big breakfast people tho it sounds great. Don't like the idea of using a TS for breakfast.... need a TS & glass of wine at the END of the day :) )
Anybody have any thoughts on Trails End? Sounds like a pretty typical, very low key buffet with total comfort food & a relaxed atmophere.
Am also leaning towards the Turf Club .....
Really want a great mix - of atmophere & food & locations.

How does this sound (in no particular odrer - that'll be a seperate issue :) )
Ohana
Whispering Canyon
Chef Mickeys
Garden Grill
Boma
Turf Club
and.......... ? leaning towards Biergarten (hubby would love it but not so sure about me?) or Trails End or .......... hmmmmm *sigh* I'm not good at decisions!
Any other thoughts - I need a final decison so I can stop talking to myself!

Do you have your own car? Where are you staying? Having dinner at some of those places may make it difficult to get back to your resort, unless you have your own wheels or cab it.

Cheers!

We really enjoyed 50s prime time in HS. The food was really good and it was neat to see all of the old fashioned decor.
