. . . to keep a very active, likely newly-walking 9-month old who hates to be confined in anything content on a cross-country airplane flight? The only time she is still is when she's sound asleep, and she doesn't go to sleep if there is anything going on around her. She is also very vocal, and I don't want her to annoy those around us. I'm not willing to give her benadryl just to make her sleep. I figure my best bet is to keep her entertained. She'll have her own seat with her carseat.

When I first flew with my eldest son who was 2 I packed a huge bag full of stuff and he played the entire time with the Magna Doodle I had for him-that could be fun for a 9mo too. I always found when I flew that the kids seemed hapy playing with the seatbelt, my water bottle, anything but toys I took for them LOL.

My daughter enjoys watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on a little DVD player while on plane trips. We've flown with her more times than I can count and she keeps pretty entertained with the DVD, looking out the window and playing with the Skymall magazine! I always make sure to have lots of snacks for her also. Of all our plane trips, she's only 'lost' it once and I took her to the back of the plane and she entertained the flight attendants for 10 minutes or so and after that she was fine. Good luck on your own trip, I can almost assure you that it won't be as bad as you think it will!
