Sorry just need to vent.....

I NEVER start a thread, but I just need to vent and I have a strange feeling that there are a few people out there that are or have been in my boat.:chat:

If there is anything most people here on the boards have in common is that we are planned, ready and informed for our trip to WDW. Whatever your routine is when your 180 days approach or 60 day marker, you have a plan.:surfweb:

On the other hand my family DH, DS23 and DD20 think I am CRAZY. I ask for suggestions and help along the way, but all the say is "You love this stuff, you always plan it so well, you do it. It's too early for me to think about it". Secretly I am fine this, but now that its about 28 day until we leave and guess what? You didn't book O'hana? We're not going to California Grill for our anniversary? :furious:

So now day in and day out I am scouring for reservations, I have two websites searching for a couple of weeks and absolutely nothing. Now I am also reading that even if someone on the canceled thread has something for me, that might not work out either.:badpc:

To top it off this might be the last WDW trip with the kids for awhile with new jobs and school, and its my 26 wedding anniversary and we haven't been in WDW on this day EVER.:(

I LOVE WDW and I LOVE all the planning, but I hate that its so hard to tweak your plans. Has this happened to you? How did it all turn out? I normal don't start stressing until the luggage comes out!! :confused3

Haha, oh no! Bless your heart! Sounds like you've been working hard and no one has wanted to help, but they sure want to enjoy the payoff of all your hard work, kinda like the little red hen! We just returned Thursday (anniversary trip too!) and we had the best meal we have EVER had, hands down, at Capa rooftop restaurant at the Four seasons. Have you considered that? We didn't book the ressie via MDE, we booked it via Open Table. We also booked a table at the Boat House (which is another favorite) via Open Table when MDE was showing NO tables available.

Thank you so much for understanding, your absolutely right about them enjoying the payoff. As soon as we land they all look at me and say "what are we doing?"

I love your suggestions, DH and I are actually going to try the boathouse in October during an adult only trip. The problem is that there are certain locations their specifically looking for. They like the restaurants I did book, but these are the two I didn't. I don't know why, I am kicking myself!!:confused3

I hear your frustration! I hope you get the reservations you are looking for but if you don't I would just say "oh I thought this would be more fun" or something like that. I also do all the planning and my family doesn't offer any input other that DH's "we have to eat at Crystal Palace once every trip" and the kids asked to try Sci-Fi.

Good Luck!

Theresa

I'm the same way as you, but my kids are way too young to voice any opinions. Dh knows to let me do my thing, but I always run it by him first.

Keep trying. People cancel all the time, especially the week before or even week of.

Thanks for the advise. I know that no matter where we eat we are going to have a great time, its WDW!! But as a mom you just want to always make things perfect. We have never been to Crystal Palace but we LOVE Sci-Fi, best burgers on property...at least we think so.

Thanks, I was thinking or at least hoping the same thing. Hopefully as we get closer another family is the same situation and changes around reservations. Maybe someone wants mine too.

Ah, sorry, that can be frustrating. I'm a planner too, but sometimes I get really tired of making every decision and want some input.

I feel like... they're all adults, if they didn't want to help or give feedback on your plans, they don't get to complain because you didn't read their minds or guess what they'd be most disappointed to miss. Try not to kick yourself for this, you're planning a great vacation. You can have a great anniversary dinner somewhere else. Maybe this is a great excuse to try something new and find some new favorites?

Or, if they want these reservations so badly, can you delegate that? Give them a quick rundown of how to do it and have them do the scouring for reservations.

Either way, I hope you're able to get what you want! And I definitely sympathize with the frustration of not being able to adjust plans as the trip gets closer.

Don't give up hope, people cancel all the time. Just keep checking. Late at night and early morning are the best times I've found people drop hard to get reservations. You should also look into some of resort hotels, they are easier to get closer to date and are still nice for an anniversary

I was in this exact same boat a month ago. Same thing too with Ohana - they couldn't believe I didn't book it. I kept checking for reservations and nothing opened up. I'm not sure where you are staying, but I told my family that I centered reservations around our hotel area (beach club) only. For me it is too much time and hassle to get to the Poly unless we are staying in the MK area. Also I feel service at Ohana has gone down in recent years. We tried some new places, some we liked, some we didn't, we still had a great trip though!

Your right they are adults and hopefully this is a lesson learned, LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER!!:rotfl2: I would never delegate, that would require me giving them my log on for WDW and who knows what a mess they would make.:rotfl2: Thanks for the chat, this is really helping. I am going to keep trying but in the end. I am not cooking, food shopping or making beds!!!

Thanks for the help, I do try in the morning but not in the evening, I'll try that. I have the Yachtsman because I didn't think they liked California Grill, my memory isn't what it used to be!:rotfl2:

Yikes:rolleyes1, can't use that excuse, we're staying at the GF. My excuse is the same as it usually is...."I didn't think you liked it there". I booked Kona instead, which of course is so close to the same thing, but they all of sudden like the meats and the dessert. I tell you, I think I am losing my mind!!:rolleyes2

I can so relate!

Everyone always tells me to just plan whatever I want because I enjoy it so much and do it so well. I ask multiple times for input and try to explain the "We could do this, but if we do, we will miss that" and I offer them choices between restaurants and times and parks and days and still they say they have no opinion. I send photos of restaurants and food and links that blog about food. Then, when we are at the park, I get, "What? Lunch is not until 1:15? How can we possibly wait that long to eat??" and "You didn't schedule an afternoon break? How can we not have an afternoon break?"

Congrats on your wedding anniversary. Just tell the family you have something new and different scheduled because there are so many great opportunities and experiences at WDW that it would be a shame to do the same thing every time. Talk up wherever you do find a reservation and explain why it so nice and how they are so lucky to eat at that particular place.

I bet you will have a wonderful trip, wherever you eat and whatever you do.

The Yachtsman's is wonderful! If your family likes steak, they should like Yachtsman's. Yes, you miss the MK view, but depending on the timing of your adr, after you eat you can wander into Epcot for Illuminations. Or walk the Boardwalk. Or walk or boat to Disney Studios for fireworks. The food at Yachtsman's is excellent!

I feel your pain. My family actually has complained before that I plan too much and too far in advance, but then if they cannot ride Peter Pan with a fastpass, their heads explode. And what do you mean it is too late to get a reservation for TONIGHT at Ohana? That's the only place I wanted to eat!!!!

Thanks so much all this venting is really helping, I guess the expression "Misery likes company" is true!:rotfl2:

We have been to Yachtsman many times, that's why I made that reservation. If I remember correctly they only thing they really loved was the sushi at CG and view. But I have to say, it definitely would be a better place for an anniversary. Either way, I am totally going to enjoy myself!!:goodvibes:woohoo:

:rotfl2::rotfl2:Exactly!!! But Touring Plans just got me into O'hana, on the night with the time I wanted!!! One down, one to go with a few tweaking of times on two others.

My DH does not join us on every trip but he was along on one big 11 day vacation. I asked and he had no requests other than HDDR, so I booked all our meal. A week out and he comes home with big news. Did I know that there was a cool restaurant in DHS? Prime Time Something. "The Guys" told him about it. Seriously?

On our first trip we took since our own kids were kids he had no feedback outher than to have a backup plan in case our DGD was scared. Maybe a day before he asks if I booked a meal with Pluto. Pluto was not on the CM roster at teh time, and I did not know he would be there, so I told him no. "Kady loves Pluto, find him. SHe's having dinner wth Pluto!" Oh my gosh!

Btw....another thing to think about. When we were there last week, I poked around on dinner ressies the day before, and lo' and behold a LOT of tables were opening up at TOP places the day before. People get sick, they change their minds, they double booked etc. If there is a 'HAVE TO GO' place you can't find open, keep checking the day before.
