Need to vent... (long)

Some background first...

My manager just recently transferred to another site and my new manager is a personal friend. My old manager was not very well liked by most of the drivers.

My new manager (family friend) just told me that while the old manager was still here, the drivers hated him so much that they were thinking of ways to get rid of him. The way they decided to do this was to start a rumor that he and I were having an affair.

Now first off, I've been married almost 2 years. I adore my husband to no end, he is my life, my best friend, my only love. I would NEVER even think of doing something like that!

I just think it's wrong to bring an innocent bystander into a cruel thing such as this. They had no right to start rumors like that and I can't seem to get past it. It happened over a month ago, I never knew. My new manager stopped it before it spread because he knows I would/could never do anything like that.

Sorry so long, I just had to get out some frustration.

That is horrible! I've had this happen to me before and it is not fun. I ended up having to confront the offender and make her tell everyone that she made the whole thing up. Even if your new manager stopped the rumor, I'd still have to confront them. Sorry this has happened to you.

That is awful. I cannot believe that people would stoop that low (and bring YOU into it) to get someone fired or transferred.

People amaze me everyday.......sometimes in good ways, sometimes in bad ways.

as to you, I am sorry that you were dragged into this petty nonsense.

Hopefully, most people know you well enough that they will not believe the lies that were told about you. do you know who actually started the rumor? How do you feel about approaching him/her?

My manager won't tell me who it was. He said "I stopped it. It won't happen again. Let a sleeping dog lay" I really do hope it's over. I haven't heard anything else about and some of the girls in the office would have approached me if they heard about it. He said that not many people were told and that he spoke to all of them personally. I do trust him, but I still hate the fact that I didn't have the chance to even defend myself.

That is horrible, not to mention very childish. Don't these people realize they are messing with a person's LIFE by starting and spreading lies about them??
I am so very sorry you have to deal with something like that.
