Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get a deal or do you have any savings tips? Yes- just 1 night for my DD and myself. We are flying home the following day and this will be a layover for us. We figure we could take the boat to DTD.
I'm not Military (for discount savings sake of my question) ... Id be paying outright...
Thanks in advance for your help

Have you considered renting DVC points and staying at SSR in a studio? It take 14-15 points for a weeknight in October and you might find a good deal from someone who has extra points that are close to expiring. That could get your cost below rack rate at POR. SSR was recently renovated and you can either walk or take a boat to Disney Springs from there.

If you have a look at the Gift cards thread there are lots of ideas on earning/purchasing DGCs at a discount, which you could then use to pay for your room.

Do you have to stay at POR? If you're thinking to visit Disney Springs, you could look into staying at one of the off-property hotels which abuts DS. I stayed at the Hilton Lake Buena Vista last year and it was very reasonably priced, and about a 5 minute walk from DS.

I agree.

We've stayed there. It's a nice Hilton and literally right across the street from the Marketplace gate.

Check something like Expedia, and you can probably stay there or at another on the drive for less than POR.

Other than military I don't think there have been discounts released yet for October. So at the moment all you can do is book rack-rate, then watch to see if anything pops up later this summer. You may find a slightly discounted rate through a third-party like Expedia. I honestly don't think you'll find much savings offered for a 1-night stay, which can be pretty hard to book onsite anyway. May be try for savings with gift cards or credit card reward offers rather than a room discount.

Yeah, we stopped there one afternoon on our way "thru the area" and spend the night. Easy walk right over to Disney Springs.

Oh my goodness! You all are amazing and I am very grateful for such fabulous tips. I am humbled you took your time to try to help give me Guidance. I will say - I do not "have" to stay at POR but my dilemma is this: im anxious about trying to figure out a time effective plan ... you guys are so good at this - maybe you'll take a stab at this: im only in town that one day Oct 10th ... we will be getting off a cruise and needing to check in a hotel aa we are going to the MNSSHP that evening in MK. My DD (20) wanted to grab a few things for Disney Springs and then go to the party at MK (we would like to enter around 4 or 5) .. and party like it's 1999 (ok not so funny) ... but you get it im sure.
I'm so worried also that I'll be EXTREMELY exhausted leaving the party when it ends and fighting the herds of people exiting. .... I fly out the next day. So tight timelines in my anxious mind and I can't seem to make sense of it.

I don't know how to rent or buy points. I really wish I did. I would love to stay somewhere the mk and springs has easy access from.

Thanks again yall! Each of you made my day!

Ummmm, having done MNSSHP once and several MVMCPs while staying at the GF or VGF which are practically IN the MK, they're so close---we bailed every time an hour or more before party's end to get out of there easily and quickly.

Whether at POR or a Lake BV Drive hotel, I strongly suggest getting a rideshare or taxi back to your hotel. Getting back to your hotel at the party's end will be a nightmare otherwise.

As for the party itself, the atmosphere is charged from start to finish. Think a busy MK day on steroids with crowds intent upon extracting every bit of value out of each moment. That's the party "ambiance" in a nutshell. People actually start staking out spots along Main Street and the Hub to watch the first parade 4-5 HOURS before it begins. (Or did every party we've been to.) That renders Main Street shoulder-to-shoulder quickly along the sidewalks in front of shops with CMs patrolling to keep a pathway open.

You can't make sense of the timeline because you're rightly apprehensive staying till it ends is not going to be smart. Trust that fear. It's spot on. Plan accordingly.

... Im sure trying ... and thanks to helpful tips im sure I'll have a solid plan soon. ... I may have mentioned - I will have a rental car (although I was thinking it may be faster to use Disney transportation to avoid the tram or walk to car parking lot.
Are you suggesting ride share or taxi because I can get picked up in a special area and avoid the congestion?

Was looking at rack rate for POR - looks like $310 per night - Points for a standard studio at SSR is 14 x $17 (Rental) = $238.
Looks like renting DVC points may be a viable option. Alternatively - as people mentioned - there may be other options in the Disney Springs Hotels

I don't recall that you did, but your car won't do you much good anyway for getting from MK to your hotel at party's end.

You'd have to get by bus, ferry or monorail back to the huge MK lot at the TTC. That will be a mob scene if you're determined to stay to the end. Could be an hour's wait, I've seen people post, just getting onto one of those.

I dunno for sure. We've never even considered doing that, valuing whatever sanity we may possess.

No idea. Maybe someone who's stayed till the end can advise you precisely.

I'm merely guessing either might be faster to your hotel once you exit MK. Getting out of the MK at all quickly could be the more serious issue.

I hate to sound like the village idiot ... but Is there a thread here or a spot that could teach me how to rent points? I'm absolutely not opposed to that and I really appreciate you being so helpful

I’ve rented points from Davids several times, they are great to work with.
Dvcrequest.com. I think it is
Yes. David’s is great to work with. OP, contact them and see if they have anything available.
it is going to be a madhouse at the end of the party. So, if you can swing a BLT or GFV studio villa for one night then that would be ideal.

you can get to DS easily from any of the resorts but depending on your room location, you can walk to DS from SSR in 20 minutes or less.

i dont think we can tell you if something is available or not but I will say that a lagoon view at GFV is 23 pts and has 2 queen size beds. The price would be around $480 if you went that route with David’s. Most people are renting their points at GF for $19 a point but You could get lucky-make sure you check out the owner if you don’t use a broker.

OP, before you jump into the renting-points idea, be aware that if you rent points, your reservation can't be modified and is nonrefundable. If that sounds okay to you, then go ahead.

Really, it sounds to me that budget is your main concern. If that's the case, then perhaps consider staying at one of the Value resorts or at a Disney Springs hotel. Or the Swan/Dolphin.

Correct, and it is all spelled out really well on David's site and you have to acknowledge it before you finalize your request, so in no way should anyone be in the dark about their policies. I presume other rental outfits may operate in much the same or similar manner, but my only experience is w/ David's.

Haven’t done it since COVID, but previously after parties I have walked to the Contemporary and gotten a ride share from there. I know they are restricting people getting dropped off there, but I have not heard that people were unable to be picked up there.

Can you just stay offsite somewhere and take rideshare? DD and I stayed at a Universal hotel last fall and took rideshare to GF with a dinner reservation at Grand Floridian Cafe then afterwards went to the MK holiday party. Then we took a bus to Pop Century (or anywhere) and shopped, then took a rideshare back to our hotel. It was very easy and relatively cheap. In your case you could take a bus to and from Disney Springs if you’re shopping there prior?
